The great Walkers swindle

It's not bizarre or weak at all, I will repeat again. A multipack is more than one single. So the average person would think that a multipack had 6 x 34.5 grams in them as opposed to the actual amount of 6 x 25 grams.
It is bizzare, and weak. Multi-packs sell for less per 100g, they make less money on them than on single packs. Why would Walkers be misleading the public into buying a product they make less profit on? That makes no business sense whatsoever.
If there is a swindle, it's with the single packs. They are 7g heavier so people assume they are paying a higher price for the extra 7g in the pack without realising they are actually paying a 30% higher price per 100g, now that is misleading.
So there's your reason right there for why they make the multi-packs smaller, it's to make the single packs look far better value than they are and to hide the fact that they are making an extra 30% profit on every single bag they sell. Think of that next time you're tempted by a single pack of crisps.
Seems Jethro has been barking up the wrong tree all these years.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Well I'm not explaining it again.
The facts are a multipack should be a pack that contains more than one single item. If the items in the multipack are smaller than those that are usually sold, they are trying to deceive their customers.0 -

In answer to your edit, single packs were sold before multipacks so your arguement doesn't work.0 -

Is that because there is no logical explanation as to why they would want to decieve the customer into buying a product that they make less profit on?In answer to your edit, single packs were sold before multipacks so your arguement doesn't work.
Of course it does, it reinforces it.
They wanted a way to make more profit on the single packs. They couldn't have done it if multi-packs already existed, duh.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Ohh I misunderstood your ramblings, doesn't matter though as it's a rubbish thought of yours.
The only reason is to deceive and what a fine job they are doing of it.0 -

Ahhh, deception just for the sake of it, yes, that's a fine business plan. Let's make less money just because we get a kick out of decieving the public, great theory
And there was me thinking Walkers were in business to make money, when they're only in it for the craic.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

It is not deception for the sake of it, they are putting less in the packets for one reason alone, to deceive.
Why on earth would they have smaller packets than the standard 34.5 grams otherwise. It may work out cheaper per gram in a multipack bit it's not as cheap as it's implied.0 -
JethroUK, Zandoni, vent your spleen on here: https://www.facebook.com/walkers
Then you'll get to see Joe Public's reaction and Walkers might even give you a response.0 -

What a totally absurd idea.
I can just see the advertising men (or women) trying to explain that "logic" to the CEO of Walkers.
"We've come up with a fantastic idea to put smaller packets of our crisps into multi-packs.
When these sell, the company won't make as much of a profit compared to selling single regular sized packets, but at least we will have been able to deceive the public".0 -
Believing that some faceless company is trying to "deceive" you is bordering on paranoid. Nobody is making you buy it.
How much do you get for your money, compared to the individual packets, as mentioned time and time again? Multipacks work out cheaper, it appears most people know there's less per packet. Some get round it by eating MORE of them
Selling a product for less profit (albeit with slightly less in a bag) seems like a strange strategy for these conniving "deceivers".
I'll watch the Walkers Facebook page with interest. If you're both really so upset about it, go straight to the company with your complaints. Then, please get yourselves a more worthwhile hobby.
Something slightly pathetic about banging on about the same subject on forums for years..0
