I was 69.9 last night and just noticed I didn't give a start weight :( so not sure if it's up or down. Got personal stuff going on atm so diet and exercise have taken a back seat..... way at the back..... that far back I'd need binoculars to see it :(

Not sure what to do, maybe give myself a kick up the bum tomorrow (son back at school tomorrow ;)) although 7lb isn't looking good for the end of the month.

Well done to everyone else though :T

    Yes please :o

margaretclare, I've been looking into low carb diets a little bit and have been having a look at labels of food in the cupboards  Anyway it's shocked my into buying a low carb cook book to see if it will help give me ideas for meals. OH is constantly hungry, got a very physical job... BUT isn't happy that he's putting a bit of weight on too.

Problems we have are between us are no eggs, no fish, no garlic and OH is a very fussy plain eater :rotfl:and he's got a shocking sweet tooth!! I'm definatley going to see if we can reduce the carbs and get us both eating differently.

But I can't start till tomorrow, he's just bought me a chocolate cake for my birthday :o I think this month might be an epic FAIL!!

elantan, the personal trainer route sounds great, I hope it goes well for you :T

[QUOTE=insured;53618061I hope you don't mind me asking, but has your face now aged, or is your body sagging.
I always think fat people look younger than thin people as they get older, and one of the good things about being fat is that I mostly get mistaken for about 10-15 years younger. (I need to lose about 3-4 stone so my face is obviously well padded!)
I have also seen pictures of people who have lost weight and they seem to have loose skin. Did that happen to you?
Someone told me that there was a guy on daytime TV that had loads to lose and had saggy bits. I don't really watch TV and so haven't seen it.
I have heard the expression "its your figure or your face after you reach 50!)
Oh,decisions decisions! I wish I had just stayed slim in the first place instead of being so greedy.
I read an article in the Sunday Times once and it said being fat says "stupid/poor/greedy/lazy". So I have to choose which one of those, or all of them I am![/QUOTE]

    i am the opposite,

everyone is telling me that loosing weight (6 stone 2lbs in 11 months) has taken years off me and i look years younger now that i did when i was carrying it (i am 38, they tell me i look 25...i dont think i look 25 for the record:rotfl:tho i dont look 38 either i dont think:o)

and everyone is also saying "and you are very lucky, you never lost your face":rotfl:

Melonade, I don't think your husband will be able to/should go low-carb as he has a very physical job. Any athlete will tell you that you need carbs when you're doing a lot of exercise. We all used to eat carbs but we were so much more physically active as a matter of course in our daily lives.

I think the principle of less highly-processed, less fatty/sugary convenience foods will still apply, though.

Ahh I see :o Right I'll have to have a closer look at what we eat. He could easily cut down on fatty/sugary foods then... it's just convincing him. I'll have to do it without him knowing ;)

    Thanks for your help :)

If I may butt-in on your thread, ladies.

I'm afraid this is a misconception. The body uses, first and foremost, fat for energy, it is a much more efficient fuel, there is no need for carbs at all, the body can survive quite easily without them, however it can't survive without fat or protein.

Gone are the days of athletes on diets of bowls of nutritionally bland pasta, sports nutrition has, thankfully, moved on. There are plenty of high profile sportsmen and women that advocate a low-carb diet - not just as a 'diet' either, but as a lifestyle.

Thank you for this clarification, murphydog999. Can you quote any references?

A very interesting TV programme last evening (first of a series) was entitled 'The Men who Made us Fat'. BBC2, listen again if you missed it. This clarified a whole lot of the things that have changed in the past 40 years which have caused what's now being called an 'obesity epidemic'. Much of it, of course, occurred first in the USA but has followed here and in many other countries.
