If you did leave - bearing in mind your AST runs til January - then you may well be liable for the rent until then. So again, find out your rights as it could leave you in a sticky wicket x 2
The rights havebeen clearly explained in the thread.

Including a link to a fuller explanation of the rights/obligations in another post.

    Yep, I knew that. Sadly.

Everything is in the LL's favour.

(They would of course have to find me should I do such a crazy thing as to move before AST rns out etc etc.)

Diplomacy would probably = some grovelling (for some reason) -
which does not really work alongside option 3....
so, I know that a combo of 3 and 4 is the way to go.

I am just such a weed.

    And very tired.

Trouble with that is that 3) is likely to alienate further so making them far less likely to negotiate a payment agreement for 4).

...but the fact that standing up for my rights would alienate them (rather than have some respect) says more about their attitude to this arrangement (and who holds all the cards) than mine. I have been diplomatic forEVER - in fact, even put up with my name being mispronounced (yes, they know the right way) for the whole 12 years.
IT was used so much (excessively - you know the type of conversation - every sentence ends with your name) that I gave up correcting him - her (oh, both of them) and was told that they will now refuse to use my name. Crikey.
It is Ch versus Sh - that's all.

... and yes,it happens a lot, I am so bleeping bored of it (and now there's a famous one so there should be no excuse!); considering changing it altogether.

It's not been mentioned at all that the OP will be liable for rent up to the end of the AST - if she takes them at their word and moves out.

I didn't realise only you were allowed to comment! You should have pointed that out.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Please don't "argue" - duplication of advice happens a lot doesn't it?

I did know at the outset what my obligations would be if I were to "simply" move out (not too sure - but I bet they will also, it seems to be bedtime reading given the speed with which I was reminded that pets not allowed is in the TA).

I am still interested to know though what would actually happen if I went ahead with a dog (couldn't be a GD* puppy without their reference - let alone permission) as in, how long a process would actually evicting me be/how can I check (as mentioned upthread) if the pets clause (haha) stands up....?

Got to go out to horse now, back later so please any more input is greatly appreciated (and no cross words please!).
    :)

*GD = Guide Dog, not Great Dane!
If a dog of my own, I would probably get a dachsund, so a lot smaller.

Well, it would be a good way of getting kicked out - wouldn't it!

    See post 7:

    1) if you have a 12 renewed Fixed Term TA from last January, then you are secure till next January - unless the TA also has a 'break clause. Does it? Take a look! Often in 12 month contracts there is a mutual BC at 6 months.
    2) you cannot be evicted by saying
    Quote:
they "really think you should find somewhere else to live",
    See here for more.

    And see post 13:
As for leaving, yes both sides are committed till January. As you say, you can mutually agree an early surrender (see my link above), but ...

In post 11, the OP also makes it pretty clear she understands this point:
But equally, I know that this means that (were I lucky enough to be able to find somewhere), I am stuck here like it or not (and dolike the house/village etc.), unless I pay extra for my "freedom".

I'm guessing that your username is not totally irrelevant to this situation even if it predates the particular circumstances?

You're obviously well educated and appear to have some insight into your situation. You're clearly unhappy with your situation but you don't appear to know where to start on changing it.

This is something that sounds simple but is usually very hard to do. Write down (not necessarily here if you want to keep it private) what you would like your situation to be this time next year. Be a little bit realistic about it but shed yourself of current restraints. Once you write down where you want to be then you can start working out how to get there. As you think 'can't' ask yourself why?

The point of all this is to put you back in control of your situation. I doubt that there are many reading this thread who wouldn't like to tell your landlords to stop behaving as they are and start behaving like decent human beings but none of us are going to actually do that because in the end it's you who needs to take control.

I wish you good luck and lots of courage. You can find a way to move beyond this.
