Thanks again. It still would have taken 3 days to transfer the rest through Faster Payments then. I might try ringing them next time because I'm not that mobile to get to a branch that easily.0

It's only pennies, but doing it by Faster Transfer is your best bet because your balance on day 1 would be £25K, day 2 £50K, and day 3 £75K.
You couldn't do a payment by card for £75K any faster (in fact, probably a lot slower), and probably not by any other means either - unless you pay for a CHAPS transfer, which would defeat the object [of making most interest] somewhat.
Phoning your bank to make a transfer also could cost a lot of money, unless you find an 0800 number.0 -
Cheers. :beer:0

Just curious. I opened an account and was not given a sort code and account number there and then. In fact the message I got was that they would need to contact me to complete the opening. Then I got an email to say the account was open, without any contact or request for documents. I've received the user id and pin code and transferred my first £1 yesterday. Any idea why I wasn't given a sort code? I've also read something that they send paperwork after the first deposit. What's that all about?Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you’ll get rid of him every weekend.0

Crikey, there seems to be no way to find out your sort code and account number when you are logged into your account. Am I missing something?0

How strange. I think you are right.
Thing that I found strange was you can easily end up mistakenly applying for a rod fishing license when trying to log into your account :T
There can't be many savings accounts where that is a possibility.I came, I saw, I melted0 -
This is one of the strangest accounts I've ever held. No sort code, no instruction how to transfer using FP. Transferred in £1 as a test to start with, using my debit card a couple of days ago. Balance in the PO account shows £1, but no £1 debit showing in my bank account (NatWest)!
The account details given online are lacking useful info e.g. can't tell whether I selected monthly or annual interest.
This is my first account with the PO and I'm not getting a warm fuzzy so far.Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you’ll get rid of him every weekend.0 -
Your sort code is most likely going to be: 90-78-68, which is Bank of Ireland Post Office Financial Serv.
If you didn't get an account number at sign up, view your direct debit details of your nominated bank account. It'll look something like this:
Destination: PO SAVINGS
Reference: INT SAVER XXXXXXXX
Where 'XXXXXXXX' is your account number.
I'd transfer only £1 to start with to ensure this is correct and not just applies to my account only.0 -
Yes, there are a few wrinkles, I would like to see better login security myself, but nothing is a deal breaker so far, and these are the hoops we have to jump through sometimes for our market leading rate nowadays! :mad:0
