I had no problem applying today online. You should check that your stuff on the credit ratings agencies is up to date. It may be something as simple as a slight anomaly in your address.
Have you actually read the rules?*Certified copies must be completed by a Solicitor, Accountant or Bank Official.
and for the PO £7.15 charging "service" that has been mentionedCustomers are advised to ensure that this service will be acceptable to the intended recipient
After the waste of time with the PO , I've just last night opened the MSE best buy Derbyshire Building Soc Savings 3.06% account without any requests for docs. Printed off and about to send opening cheque (a pain that opening amount has to be a cheque but other amounts are online)
so I doubt there's an issue with my credit etc if other providers can still do an instant online check of status etc.0 -
Saga CC is Bank of Ireland not Halifax, same as PO. When BOI took over the CC it was a pain in the **** to set up the on-line banking for it and it's still a pain to check it with so many different numbers to remember and look up! so I don't even bother using it anymore just wait for paper statements.

And Saga sharedealing is Barclays. They're all over the shop."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

... and just to correct Denise, Saga CC (that's Credit Card) is provided by Allied Irish Bank, not the same as BoI.0

The only disadvantage so far is actually getting large amounts into the account. I tried my debit card but was only able to transfer 10k and refused further transfers that day. The 10k is shown in the PO online (yesterday and today) - but not yet shown debited from my current account. I did a further amount with the PO transfer in but that is 3 to 5 working days to show in the account. I will be interested to see the PO account dates from the point of view of earning daily interest and see if it then agrees with my excel daily interest calculations at the end of the day.
OK, we all want online and account security but why can't we just move our money around when we want to? As well as managing the bonus end dates you need to calculate the loss of interest during long transfers to actually see if it is all worthwhile0 -
When you opened the account you were given a sort code and account number, you can just use faster payments to transfer your funds directly to the account and the account itself is updated within a few hours.
Debit card deposits can take days, as can the "transfer in" option.0 -
Have you tried it? The T&Cs specifically state external deposits can ONLY be made by BACS or CHAPS, Direct Debit, Debit card or Standing Order, no other method can be used. Is Faster Payments the same system as BACS?0
-
Have you tried it?
YES - see my earlier post about it.
For BACS, you can now read Faster Payment
Try it with £1 - - - I usually do such a small payment, anyway, just to double-check I got the destination details right before I transfer my millions (haha)0 -
Thanks, that's worth knowing. I do the same with £1 for a test first, but is there a limit on faster payments? used to be 10k I think with the Halifax last time I tried.0
-
Each bank has their own daily Faster Payments limit. Also, if you want to transfer big chunks in successive days, might be worth telling your bank - - they will have all alarm bells ringing when big amounts leave accounts.
You could probably also ring your bank / drop into branch, and ask them to pay the whole lot in one go into your target account. Some will do it, some won't.
Halifax limit is £25K/day, btw0
