Ignore the size of your bump, as long as it is progressing, things will be fine.

I was tiny too, I carried very little water and even at 8 months I had to actually tell people I was about due. Both were a month early anyway and weighed only 6lb. 4 hours labour = shelling peas lol

    Keep posting

I have a dear friend who is quite a bit older than me. She was pretty immobile due to an accident that damaged her pelvis when she was a young woman. For the same reason she was unable to have children of her own, to her great sadness. She had a good collection of Godchildren though, my son included.

The kids loved the fact that they knew she would always have a lap for a cuddle, riding with her on her wheelchair etc.

Of course, I know that is not the same as having your own child 24/7, but people manage somehow.

LM, your child will have different experiences from those with fully TAB (temporarily able bodied) parents. But 'different from' isn't the same as 'worse than'. Besides, every parent and child's experience is different from anyone else anyway!
  • LM, you're going to be fine. Congratulations to you and just enjoy it all!

Congratulations on the baby. Ignore all those who are nasty. At the end of the day if no one had a baby until everything in their lives was perfect then very few people would have children.

I have very strong feelings about parents and disability, but as a disabled person I realise the choice is very personal and down to each individual.
I would never dream of expressing my thoughts, let alone in a manner which has been said.

Anubis could you edit post 27 to remove that quote?

LM please don't allow that comment to upset you it's pure ignorance...
I knew it was going to be hard when I had my baby, I knew I needed surgery and had a huge amount of support from medical services including counselling to help deal with previous pregnancy issues and how my health was going to affect me.
The midwives were amazing and supportive, and I had lots of support during delivery as I had an elective section, they dealt with this very sensitively...

I'm sure my baby prefers to be alive and with her family than either not around or with strangers, this poster has infuriated me and should be ashamed...

My baby is almost 6 months and when she smiles at me or blows me raspberries I know it's all worthwhile...
I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...

I think the comment should stay.

To show how ignorant some people still are towards people with disabilities or long term illness.

To delete it seems like hiding it to me, pretending it doesn't exist, rather than challenging it, letting the poster of the comment know what an unpleasant piece of work they are and anyone else who reads it will see how archaic and offensive those opinions are, no matter how weaselly and disguised their words are.

It's only in the cold light of day that such prejudice can be combated, not by pretending it doesn't exist.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

That comment as ignorant and offensive and the poster in question should be ashamed of themselves.

You know I have MH ssues, but i hope one day to have children of my own (not yet! but when i'm all grown up :p) and would hate for people to think just cos i have MH issues that automatically would make me an unfit parent.

I think you and your DH will make brilliant parents, your LO wll be very much loved and i wish you the best with the pregnancy and parenthood.

I have edited as it appears the original comment has been removed, I presume, by the site staff.
