Hello all.
I'm not really sure if this is the right place to put this.:o
My DH and I are expecting our first child. I'm 12 weeks. I have severe M.E and mental health problems.
I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to cope with the pregnancy and for when the baby is born? I know that it is early days but as I'm bedbound/housebound alot and when I do go out, I'm in a wheelchair, I want to be prepared.
I can't self-propel due to the M.E so my DH has to push me.
Are there any adaptions out there for disabled parents, and does anyone have any hints that might make things both easier for myself, DH and baby?
Thank you in advance.:o

Wow, LM, I didnt know you were having a baby:j:j
Congratulations:T
Take each day as it comes, all you can do is what you can do.
I know that isnt much help but I just couldn't read and run.
I just wanted to wish you well.
If youre going to get help, you'll get it on here.
Do you or your OH have family close by who can help.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I had my 12 week scan today so was waiting until today to announce it properly. I just wanted to make sure that everything was okay.
Thank you McKneff.
We live in the same village as my DH's parents and sister who I know will be a big help.
When baby arrives, apparently we will be overcrowding our property according to our HA (we have a one bedroom flat) so my only worry is finding somewhere else in the village. We have choice based lettings here so at least we can bid on properties in the areas that aren't too far away if we can't get one in the village.
It's a shame really as we like where we live. We only moved here in December last year. I was told by my GP that it would most likely take a couple of years to conceive. Plus, because of the M.E we can't actually...well...be intimate that much...so when I found out I was pregnant it was a bit of a shock!2019 Wins

I posted some tips on your last thread that may help on swaddling and a few other things
I have spinal problems and a lone parent of 3, baby is nearly 6 months, my arms, back, legs and feet are affected so I understand...Got to have an operation on my neck soon..have arthritis..
You should be having your scan about now..how exciting.
Lots of luck and accept as much help that is offered..
Ps good tip for heartburn, try Xtra strong mints, must be Trebor..work like a dream..I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -
Nice Shock. eh. I know we dont know each other but I am so pleased for you, I remember being on a thread when you were moving.
I cant presume to know much about ME but my friends son has had it for about 2 years, he is only 16 bless him, the worst time possible for all of them, but he seems to be getting better slowly, another friends daughter went through it and sort of 10 years later, there she is with 3 fine strapping boys and she is now fined. Can that happen for you.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Xtra strong mints worked a lot better for me, I had hyperamasis which makes heartburn worse apparently..
Sell them in the £1 shop also took away the sickness for me..
Everyones different though..I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -
You just have to try different things,
some things work for some, differnet things for another.
I just like Ginger Bisciuts, they are very more, moremake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The best advice I can offer is ensure you are monitored for your mental health side of things, (as baby/physical health will be monitored as normal)
It is essential they do this so make sure they don't ignore it and only focus on the physical side. I only say this due to the "potential" of post natal depression (not going into detail here.)
Good luck and take care x“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0
