as far as i can work out my triglycerlide level is 1/3 the HDL level----2,53 to 7,59. i have to work out the measurements because the readings are done in metric here.

I think you need to be brutally honest with yourself regarding your alcohol intake. In the past it has been blatantly obvious from your posts that you drink significantly more. Also if I was given an amber light regarding my cholesterol and liver function I would have taken action. You have not been deceived - you chose to deceive yourself!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

the great thing about my liver or rather not, is that my alcohol intake doesnt get processed properly by my it and it passes quickly into my blood stream--i have a genetic fault which was identified many years ago----a little alcohol for me affects me a lot but then i sober up quickly. Also the meds i take advise not to drink with them and they are 'brain chemical drugs' which i would guess makes quite a cocktail for the emotions.----i never suffer hangovers or go to bed other than sober!

the deceipt is that they have told me there are issues but they havent revealed the extent--they have never warned me about my drinking or diet.

Are you trying to convince us or yourself???? You know your body has a genetic fault which means alcohol cannot be processed as well as the average person (ie your liver is under strain) and you know that you should not drink alongside your medication. You have also had warnings about your liver and cholesterol over a long period of time and chosen to ignore them

Yet you claim that 'someone else' should be responsible for your misfortune despite this?

Time to wake up and smell the coffee. Unless you take responsibility for your health and your previous choices, it's going to be a nigh on impossible task to move on and achieve the better health you desire

I apologise for seeming a little terse on the subject. My 18 year old son was told yesterday that he has high cholesterol (inherited) and has already put into action a plan for more healthy way of living to conteract this. If he is mature enough to do so, when he is at no fault, then I'm pretty sure you should be too!

İ assessed my lifestyle based on the results i was relaid by my doctor--i was open about my lifestyle regarding drinking and things---he advised there were raised issues but didnt advise change was necessary -my cholesterol was 'slightly raised' --my wife comes in to my doctors appointments and she is tough on me when it comes to problems with my health but like me never got an idea that change was needed!!----the turkish doctor advised that this has taken a long time to progress to this level! i am changing --i am not saying that i wont--its just i was never told the truth!

    Take a look at these:

    British Heart Foundation

    NHS DIrect

    BUPA advice

then sit down and think hard about what you REALLY eat & drink, and make firm plans to drastically improve your diet.

Not only take a good hard look at what you eat and drink, but take some exercise in addition.

If you have a genetic fault affecting your liver you should NOT drink any alcohol at all. In an Islamic country that shouldn't be such a strange idea. You don't need alcohol!

I have to smile - every time I ever go near a doctor (which isn't frequently!) and get asked about my alcohol consumption, it's hard to recall it all. 'Well, I had half a pint of local bitter on St George's Day, a glass of wine at Christmas...' they usually give up at that point, because it doesn't fall into the 'units per week' that they're used to working to. You could work out how many units of alcohol you do drink, though. In your place I wouldn't drink any at all.
