I have Glad, but they are really only geared up to if you want a grad training scheme job or giving you information on job roles that you never see advertised -so whilst these jobs might exist in a careers text book they are not available in the real jobs market.:beer:0 -
So, Glad, careers advisors say to me that I might be suited to an equality officers job in local govt or a university. Whilst these jobs exist and do exist in a careers book, never once have I ever seen one of these jobs come up in my area. So Careers are not that useful for finding what is achieveable as a job that never comes up is not achieveable.:beer:0

They do that sort of thing, you are correct. I have had a lot of help from them on the CV.:beer:0 -
Hope it hasn't got one of those crappy 'mission statement/personal description' things on it.

Establish which big names you have in your town then access their web sites. Many have a Vacancies section where you can send a CV or request an application form.
I assume you want part time work as you are a student. If i were you i would visit every supermarket and fast food place - you are bound to get something.
The job centre list jobs available. I am not sure what you expected when you went there last but 'look at the positions and see if there is something suitable' doesnt seem like an unreasonable response to a job seeker.
