You see, my problem with my mums place is when I am downstairs I am in the living room, which the front door is located, and where I am bed bound, any person whether thats a post man, or someone selling something comes to the door, you can see that I am there, any one who comes around like friends etc there I am, no privacy, if the living room would be at the back of the house no problem.
What about putting up some large screening between your bed and the front door? Like a large version os a dressing screen? I am sure a local tradesmen could build something suitable so you can have more privacy. Wouldn't take up much room and if i've read your posts correctly wouldn't have to be out all year round and i'm sure Mum/Sis wouldn't mind.
Or a thick, heavy curtain could be put up at the front door, and when the door needs answering Mum/Sister can go in front of it so it's still in place and whoever is on the doorstep can't see in. You could again get something made and fitted which is 2 or 3 times wider than the door so less chance of anyone being able to see in.
That is the kind of thing you could use the DLA for.0 -
Thats not a bad idea, maybe something like they have in offices but big enough to conceal a bed?0

Exactly, you could get a few local tradesmen round (or maybe you know someone who is good at diy) and put your heads together.
You could even have it decorated really nicely so it looks good from the outside and from your bed view.0 -

We have one of these http://www.scaramangashop.co.uk/at-home/old-doors-windows/vintage-wooden-room-divider-screen/prod_2531.html ( posted to show size, 4 sided)
Although ours is carved as its African as we only have carvings, we dont do ceramic and similar ornaments (yuk!) as we have one room downstairs so the divider helps break it up. You can get room dividers anywhere.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
Anubis are you talking about me there? thats how my mum and sisters tell me thats how I am! I don't see it, I know with my mum's mental health issues and me being just you described - its almost you took it word by word what my mum tells me what I am like.
Actually, thinking about it, it could be why if I move out she wants me really close, not so if I fall she will be there quickly, but if I have a, well breakdown she can get there fast? That would make sense I guess.
I personally hate being on benefits, I don't tell anyone I know I am on them, I lie and tell them I make money online - even though I do stuff online - I don't take a single penny as I do it as its an obsession of mine.
All I know is that it's been a very difficult journey for the last somewhat 25 years, also my daughter has bi polar (no benefits claimed either, she is at Uni and working.) we live on eggshells to prevent meltdowns. With myself being disabled unable to do much, and two other children I don't know how we have done it and neither do our family and friends around us :rotfl:
Here, take a look at these, you can get six panel ones http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hand-Made-Wicker-Room-Divider-Choice-of-Size-Colours-/180671851853?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Decorative_Accents_LE&var=&hash=item2a10e1ad4d“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -

I'd rather someone considered me to be horrible than a fool!0
