Too disabled and too young to move out!

Hello
Here is what the paperwork says.
Shared accommodation £66.50 - I will get this.
One bedroom Property - £115.38 - Should be getting this?
two bed property - £138.46 - I need this.
It applies to all single claimants under 35 with no dependants, unless the claimant is a care leaver under 22, severely disabled or have a carer who provides overnight care on a regular basis and stays in a spare bedroom overnight.
Edit post:
I currently receive DLA - Mobility high rate and Care component middle rate, and... Income Support I think...
According to the people who assess me for which rates I can get, due to receiving care component of DLA I am classes as too disabled and will only get shared accommodation. I am looking for a 2 bed place so my mum/sister can stay over for 3 months solid between them, then reduce it throughout the year until I have another operation, when again it would be 3 months solid.
Due to being younger than 35, I am too young to get the 1 bedroom rate.
If your new to this thread, first page is a mix up about I thought I got carers allowance not care component.

Why would you not get the 1 bedroom rate. Being severely disabled means you should get that. Are you on the housing association's waiting list? I think that might be your best bet as you will not find a 1 bedroom bungalow that will be priced in the lowest 30% of all properties. It's probably best just to choose something not far off the 1 bedroom rate and then have the carer make up a bed in the lounge whenever they are required to stay over.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

1) How old are you?
2) What council area are you in?
Whatever is the case, it may be worth speaking to the council regarding your case. You will be able to get your local councillor on (district/borough council name) councillors, then find your ward through there.
This will normally be to the individual council’s discretion and can be helped if you have support from someone already in the council (such as a Cllr, who is largely independent.)
Make a phonecall, ask for someone to come round. The worst that can happen is that you’re stuck in the situation that you’re in for a few months longer, and it could significantly speed up the process.
Another route to go down (whether owned or rented) is to see if the council can give a grant to extend the property to meet the needs of someone with a disability. Again, this will have to go through housing (and possibly benefit).
Try to get on the phone to the council tomorrow and see where you get.

I have found properties on Rightmove in my area that are 2 beds and cheaper than 1 beds... bungalows are must with my disability.
I am 23 years old.
I went to the council today, who said that I might be able to get the right level accommodation, and should go ask the people who know on the floor above them, I done this and they said hmm, ill check and got a book, looked up things and said no, due to receiving carers allowance.
Its not fair to ask someone to sleep on a sofa for 3 months to look after me, they need a real bed.
The area I live in is green belt, they have already knocked down walls, and redesigned the place to suit me when I am not wheelchair bound.
Oh, I live in Portsmouth/Fareham Borough Council is the area of most bungalows0 -

I moved half way across Europe at 18 (I grew up in West London and went home for 3 years, before moving to Moscow at 21 and back to London at 23), so you’re not too young.
As I’ve already stated, your best bet will be to speak to the council, as they will be the best people to answer the given questions.
Let us know how you get on, and if you need any advice, please let me know.
My PM is switched off for a reason, but I’ve subscribed to the thread.

The problem is a lot of LL will not accept anyone on benefits (LHA) so ensure any property you find that they are willing to take on the fact you are on LHA.
Put your name down for social housing and get an assessment. I am on the list and haven't had an assessment because at the moment there is no desperate need to move, so I prefer others who need to be above me in the list to be so.
However, they sent me a letter the other day and an assessment form, as I had to renew my application onlne, and it looks like from the letter, that I will have to have an assessment now regardless.
Find the local housing section for your council and apply online and request an assessment. I am unsure why you are only getting the shared rate. Are you in receipt of DLA?“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -

Who receives CA for you and what will happen when you move out?
Surely a ground floor flat would be cheaper than a bungalow - there are lots of flats in the Portsmouth area.0 -
I currently get DLA higher mobility and Medium rate carer allowance - although being renewed now. Due to getting the carer rate I am not disabled enough thats what the council have said - No idea why?
I have never done this before, I went to housing options who are putting me on a list of some sort, who said I can join other lists - Does that mean they will only provide council places? Does other lists include other councils?
I receive it in my bank, I give it to my sister and my mum equally, thats not going to change as they are both my legal carers and will be if I move out.
Flats are fine, but its the location, I simply can't get to them - its uphill where I live thanks to portsdown hill, and the ones in the city are too far if/when I fall.
What I really need is a flat/bungalow in the Portchester area but that comes under a different council.0 -

Housing options will likely include all social housing (council, housing associations etc)
Not sure about them saying you are a carer so no disabled enough. As you are caring for someone how will you do this when you move out and need a substantial amount of care yourself?“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
You can't get severe disability allowance and have someone claiming carers allowance for you at the same time, that's just not possible.
You need to require an overnight carer over 50% of the time in order to qualify for a 2nd bedroom on LHA, 3 months out of the year won't cut it. You would need to have care throughout the night, as most people are asleep at night I'm not sure how walking difficulties would affect you at night? A sofa bed in your living room is probably the best solution here.
If you're under 35 and in receipt of higher or middle care DLA the you will get the 1 bedroom ESA rate.
Have you actually spoke to anyone at the council about this or are you just guessing?0 -

Do you mean that you get DLA Care rather than Carers Allowance?
Why would you need to get to a flat from where you live now once you've moved there?0
