Sold a car by RIGHT CAR with no MOT - where do I stand?

Well that's funny because when I said to Right Car that I should have checked and that we both need to sort it the man said no it is his fault as it was his responsibility to check before he signs the car over.
I don't post on here much any more as most people just have a go and don't offer advice.
I forgot that everyone on here is perfect, apart from me of course.
Don't get so defensive, Wily. Noone on here is perfect, apart from me of course, but legally it is your responsibility to check that the papers are all in order before you drive.
Sounds like the dealer is doing the decent thing for once and accepting that they screwed up on their side of it but that wouldn't have counted for anything if you'd been stopped or, worse, had an accident.
Lots of people (no doubt including many on here) have done much worse things - hell, on another thread I even admitted to driving from Birmingham to Essex with probably unroadworthy brakes one time. And knowingly driving an unroadworthy car is worse than accidentally driving an un-NOTd one (which may well be perfectly roadworthy). The only thing in my defence is, being the only perfect one on here, I was up to the task so no harm done
In your case as well, no harm done, it's getting sorted, so accept you did an oops and move on

I said that I should have read it, but that they too should have ensured it was MOT'd, considering it was discussed etc.
I just panicked and I am not going to use my car apart from to drive it to them because I don't really have a choice as it can't be MOT'd at home. The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.0 -
Just make sure its booked in for the mot0

Like Sgt P says, as long as it's booked in (rather than turning up unannounced) it's perfectly legal to drive to or from an MOT test without one. You can even make reasonable stops on the way - like petrol, or breaks if you booked it into a station 250 miles away

I'm finding this thread really confusing. You do realise that based on the information you have provided in this thread OP, that when you bought the car it had an MOT, so they didn't actually sell you a car without an MOT. There is no law about dealers having to sell cars with 11 months MOT's - someone's been telling you porkies.
If you've been telling Rightcar that they sold you a car without an MOT when in actual fact they did, be careful, you might end up with quite a large bill when they realise.0 -
I'd just get a ticket and put it down to experience.0

Actually my boyfriend checks my tyres for me at the weekend when I travel down to see him and I keep a foot pump in my boot.
Why do people have to be so negative and condescending on these forums?
I don't drive in a "cavalier" way, I was told it had an MOT. Do you scan every document meticulously??
And actually, smart !!!!!, Right Car have admitted its their fault.
It's a very bad idea to buy a car without sight of the MOT. You could have ended up with a car with a string full of adviserories you'd need to get sorted to get it through it's next MOT.
Please do yourself a favor and take a short car maintenance course. You shouldn't be relying on your boyfriend to check your tyres.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
