Given the way they police these things, I think you have no choice but not use the word mulberry. :(

If you do want to use it, then I would leave it out of the title, and just have it in the description, but make it clear that you mean the colour. i.e. "This is a mulberry coloured..." However, given you have already had a couple items removed, I wouldn't even risk that.

i don't think ebay would remove it if i put mulberry coloured in the description only. i will leave it a few days and see if i get a reply from mulberry, it will be interesting to see what they say if they do reply.

I suppose the only real way of knowing is to try it and see but it's risky as they could then go on to suspend your account.

i've had a few items removed in the past 5 years but never been suspended

all for silly things like this as i've never sold a fake, keyword spammed or anything like that

as i have already said, ebay said in the quiz i had to do that they allow you to mention a brand name for example "like mulberry" in the descrition just not in the title, so i presume since i only wanted to put that the colour was mulberry i would have thought i could safely put this in the description

Yeah, according to their rules you can, but unfortunately that doesn't guarantee anything. ;)

    From: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/keyword-spam.html

    Comparisons
Sellers are not permitted to make comparisons between items in a listing title. Only in the description are sellers permitted to compare the item being offered to the functionality of one other similar product, so long as the listing is not misleading in any way, as to which company made the item offered.

    Example not allowed:
The titles "Leather Handbag, like Chanel","Leather Handbag, Chanel style", or "Leather handbag, not Chanel" are not permitted on eBay because they make comparisons between the item being offered, a leather handbag, to a Chanel handbag.

    Example allowed:
In the description only, sellers are permitted to compare the item being offered to one other similar product, so long as the listing is not misleading in any way as to which company made the item offered.
    Example:

"This vacuum cleaner does a much better job at cleaning ground-in dirt than Acme brand vacuum cleaners."

    Peace folks please.

Pinkgem, list it as Mullberry (double ll) not Mulberry.

    Problem solved.

    Hopefully. :D

If I were the original poster I would email eBay and get written confirmation that it is okay to use the phrase 'Tan/Mulberry Colour' and providing they say yes then relist.
"As if by magic... the shopkeeper appeared."

Problem is; Your listing a Fake handbag that is Mulberry is colour,
Mulberry UK will get an email everyday searching for the word mulberry, check your listing & see its not one of their handbags & get eBay to pull it
eBay will do this 2 or 3 times & then suspend you

    Why was the CD removed?
What is the website, showing the Handbag

i have only just noticed that you edited your post to include the above.

i did not list a fake handbag, its just a non branded handbag, it is not a replica of an expensive handbag and i didn't try to pretend that it was.

the cd was removed because vero asked ebay to remove it for trademark infringement or something, but it was a genuine music cd purchased from woolworths! there were others listed and others completed. mine is now on amazon marketplace.

the website with the handbag for sale is a well known catalogue company
  • I would think it would be OK to list mulberry (with a lower case m) as colour in the item specifics, but I'd avoid putting it in the main body of the description, and definitely avoid putting it in the title. If I'd had more than one item removed recently (however unfairly) I'd probably be overcautious and avoid the word altogether, and use an alternative (maybe "plum/ burgundy" or "damson" or something).
It is ridiculous that colours can be banned from titles just because they happen to be trademarks. Marc Ecko has a range of handbags (and possibly other stuff) called Red - does that mean you can't list a red handbag if it doesn't belong to that particular brand? If someone searches for "red handbag", it's probably the colour red they're looking for.
I would be confused by "mulberry/ tan handbag" or similar unless it's a two-tone bag, because mulberry is a different colour from tan: mulberry is a plummy purplish burgundy-like colour, whereas tan is orangey brown, so if I saw both words I would tend to suspect that mulberry referred to the brand, but that the seller was being subtle about it in an attempt to avoid accusations of selling fakes.
