Ah-ha.
I knew the vino tinto would start working.
Just copy/paste/........../........./inbox.dbx and
/........./........./sent items.dbx to the current OE folder.

Well, yes and no. If you copy all *.dbx files you will overwrite everything, contacts etc.
However if you only want to recover your old inbox then you can just copy inbox.dbx and it wont delete anything else. You will lose anything you have in your new inbox though. However if these are still retrievable from your ISP's mail server you'll be OK.

Is that what that red watery stuff is leaking from the PC?
Actually, you reminded me of a small bottle of champagne I have, courtesy of a flight I was on yesterday. Its going down very nicely - not enough to share i'm afraid lol.
p.s What does the 604! mean?0 -
The problem is, I have loads of e-mails on both hard drives. I am not too worried about the contacts. I also have a lot of personalized folders on the old drive. Is it possible to rename the new inbox to something else (as a personalized folder) and then restore the old inbox, or am I wishful thinking?0

Clues are in my profile/avatar.
If not, just google for "Toxteth O'Grady, U.S.A."

Is that 604 marshmallows up one nostril or two? And do you have a French cousin called Mange Tout?
I notice you are also on the Solwise forum. Solwise is based in Hull - in fact their first premises were part of a chemists that was previously owned by my sister's former boyfriend's father!
Solwise have since moved from those premises and are due to move again shortly - they seem to be doing rather well! I was in their current premises last Thursday enquiring about VOIP routers!0 -
Mange tout, Rodney.

susy wrote:ok, have done that, but still getting the same message 'no messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open. Please select another folder or try closing applications that may have files open' I have definitely browsed the slave drive and I have closed all other applications (obviously apart from Outlook Express and MSE. If the read-only gotcha has fixed the error message, the safest way is via the File - Import - Messages previously mentioned because that will integrate your old email messages and folders with your current ones. It's then a manual process within OE of deleting/moving messages as required. The import method also allows you to import all folders or just the ones you select.0
