technopoop - if you stroll over the which? boards on this topic, you'll see about 800 posts of people who have been fobbed off by the executive office also.
The exec office are sticking to the same scripted nonsense that their complaints division do.
I think at this point three have made it perfectly clear they only chance of a response is to either courts or fear of courts.0 -
The front of 3 is unbelievable. I received a call from an Indian call centre under their "benefits dept" offering me an "upgrade" as they "didnt want to lose me." The "upgrade" was £11 per month for another 24 months AFTER I paid the early termination fee for my existing account totalling £350.
Yes right 3, I'll happily pay you an ETC, whilst its in dispute, upfront and then enter another 24 month contract with you after this recent debacle. YOU UTTER UTTER UTTER P*** TAKING CLOWNS!0 -
Well I sent an email to the exec office saying that I am now paying under protest, let's see what happens. On the Which? comments section for the price rise they say they are getting their lawyers onto three over the iphone contract as it is worded differently. I have an iphone, so I am hopeful they can find a hole in it!0

It is high time legislation was passed to curb Early Termination Fees. There is no need for them to be the cost of the remaining monthly subscription. It should be for the residual cost of any handset taken with the contract. It is an utter cheek to make someone pay for talk time they will not get. The only thing you would "get" is a handset. Also this facade of the "free" handset needs to be abolished. If it is "free" why are you tied in yet not tied in when you have no handset?
Also Mobile companies and the like should be banned from using CRAs as a threatening tool for disgruntled customers. A mobile contract is NOT a regulated credit agreement, is open to billing errors and disputes and has no place on a credit file.0 -
I have 3 months left on my contract paying £42 a month,i requested for cancellation and my pac code, it took almost 45 minutes to get my pac code inspite i agreed to pay termination charge for the next 3months.
The lady other side didnt want me to cancel and keep on saying one word why you paying for service that you wont use,please call after 2 months and request for PAC code.I said i am giving charity to 3 who only knows how to FOB their innocent customer, So kindly give me my PAC, I paid the whole amount and my big GOODBYE to looosers 3..I will never ever recommend 3 to any any human being on planet earth. My worst bad experience in last 2 years with them.:mad:0 -
MSE should start a campaign to encourage people to not take out "contracts" on phones. If people started boycoting "contracts" then mobile companies would have to act. All they would end up with is a stockpile of fancy handsets rotting in their warehouses. They would literally have to give them away.
Alas Britain has been so sucked in by the mobile "necessity" and the yearning for the latest mobile "bling" that it's like taking candy from a child. The mobile companies must be laughing at everyone being conned into their "deals".

So what? If that's what people want to spend their money on, then that's their choice. Do you apply the same logic elsewhere in life? Car, House, Clothing?
Should we all be sat in a tent somewhere shivering in the cold?
No, of course not - we work hard, earn our money, and spend it on surviving whilst affording ourselves the occasional luxury. Would *I* personally spend 42 a month on a phone? Heck No. Would I spend 70 quid on a pair of trainers? Absolutely not. That's not to say I can't afford to - I certainly could, it's just not what I want to spend my money on.
Everyone is free to do their money as they wish. And as I've already demonstrated, contracts can work out very good value if done right. Of course, if you get the latest high end phone the day it comes out - you're going to pay a premium - and the phone companies know that - but that shouldn't be cause to berate people for doing so.0 -

Just had a similar phone call. Apparently as i'm "such a good customer" is there anyone i'd like to recommend 3 too? Fair to say, they were advised in no uncertain terms whether i'd be recommending their company to anyone.0 -
'Affording' means that the one can afford this luxury, i.e. to buy it outright. Loan for a luxury is nonsense unless it costs you nothing and you can pay it off at any time.
Agreed - nobody should take out a contract that they can't, or are at risk of not being able to, afford.
But to consider it a 'loan' isn't really accurate though.
As I've said, paying for a contract phone can very easily cost you much less that taking a SIM Free Phone and paying for a rolling service. Of course, the longer you own your phone the more a SIM ONLY deal pays off.
A loan, you get given a lump amount, and pay back more than what you were given. This isn't the case with a contract phone.0
