It looks like I'm going to have to do the rounds of the supermarkets and pound shops with a tape measure. More odd looks from the staff, but no change there. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Absolutely right - these are great, and even if you drop them getting them out of the cupboard (arthritic paws), they stay locked shut.
I use them for 4 types of flour, icing sugar and semolina. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

thanks nuatha - does a bag of flour fit thru the opening ok?
A standard 1.5Kg bag won't, I've several 1kg bags that will (speciality flours) however I tend to buy flour by the sack rather than supermarket packs. I decant flour into the sweet jars then freeze for 24 hours. I also use sweet jars for most of my bulk pulses, sugar, oats and some dried fruit.
I have seen some flip top tupperware style plastic containers that would take a 1.5kg bag of flour, but can't remember where - I'll update if I find them again.
Homepride used to do a pair of tins (1 plain, 1 SR) which would take a full bag of flour, but that might have been 30 or 40 years ago (hate to think what the price would be as kitchenalia)0 -

Take a look at the top shelf in this picture - the containers are 2.2 l snap lock from Asda, £2.70 each.0

I use sweetshop jars for storing all sorts of stuff - rice, pasta, flour, cereals - just about anything! For flour I decant and sellotape the bit of the bag that has the name of the flour onto the jar.
Free, as there is a sweetshop in town that puts its old jars out front in a box for people to help themselves toOn the up

What a tidy cupboard! I have a carousel which is fab and well organised - when I've just emptied, scrubbed it and reloaded.Everything has it's place, baking stuff in one section, spices in another, tins, dried goods etc. all neatly stacked in their boxes and then a week later I bring the shopping home and jam it in the front pushing everything towards the back and it's back to it's jumble!:o
