This CRB stuff is no joke, is it! I would've taken the paid work tomorrow too, hypno, in your shoes. Especially when the CRB is such an unknown quantity, but I have absolutely no experience of anything to do with that, can't help I'm afraid. It does sound like you've had a productive day today, tho.

even my crb form took ages and i work for the folk that do them. I probably had the same extended check as you will be needing hypno, all that national security rubbish and credit check and all.

surfbabe guess they don't last because someone can go from being (how do i say this?) 'normal' to a risk factor at the drop of a hat it just depends if they are caught. plus because of liablilty issues as well i guess that's why everyone does their own. Don't intend to offend anyone with the last bit.

OH just got his back and it took 2 weeks but they did pay for a shortened abridge version, thingie.

On the comical side of this CRB thing, somewhere, in some dusty filing cabinet at the Ministry of Defence, there used to be an MI5 file on me.... my sister married an Army officer in a sensitive corps, he was under 25 and had to get permission, and her whole family (including me) had to get checked. Since I was a peace activist, Greenham Common, civil disobedience, the whole bit, it must have been very touch and go for a while. I always wondered if they tapped my phone, lol!

Hey! Another old leftie! Ah yes, the thrap thrap thrap of the helicopters overhead, the machine guns pointed at us as we pulled down the concrete posts supporting the wire, the police horse that pinned me to the fence.... those were the days!

PS - sea, did you live there? I never did, I'm afraid - just went on days when they were pushing for extra support.

:) Think my mum was more the one being pinned to the fence - I was only little lol! I used to think she was going to be arrested and I'd be left at Greenham on my own with the other women (I knew a lot!) - thing is I was quite excited by it all! will find your diary to carry on the reminiscing!

  • Hi Hypno :hello: Just thought I would pop by and say hello. You're (unsurprisingly) doing fantastic with the ski challenge and well done on the job. I am in and out of prisons every week (in a professional capacity of course not as a resident!) and I think it's fabulous the opportunities they are being offered. My friend is an art teacher at a women's prison and loves it.

Contrary to popular belief not all prisoners are a waste of space - I deal with a lot of people who have been let down by the system and those they care about and took the wrong path in life!

    When do you start?

    Good luck

Just got back from karate and now making dinner - by which time it will be too late to do any more work so may well have to call it a day for now, otherwise my poor brain will be dead for tomorrow - don't really know what I will be doing, but it is not the same as my "old" job at the uni - I will be helping out one of the research projects, so it could be quite interesting. No idea what I will be paid, but anything is better than nothing!!

Actually, having said I will call it a day, I have just challenged myself to do an hour more work tonight.....I think it is my schizo side coming through - one bit saying "stop" the other saying "just one more hour".........

Dinner tonight is very much storecupboard stuff - new potatoes, corned beef and sliced tomatoes - more of a summer dinner really, but it will have to do for tonight!! I am starrrrrrving, because I forgot to have lunch.....oops.
