Just had a look in the cupboard - it's called "Oven Pride". It uses a kind of jellied sodium hydroxide. According to me, there were no fumes. According to the XOH, there were some.

Just 3 tips for using it though.
    1. Wear gloves
    2. Wear gloves
    3. Wear gloves

Darn, just read the next message. Hmm...who to believe??

morning everyone hope you are all well...hypno as usual has the strength of an army (i am so envious) and i have no doubt will have everything completed for her day by lunch time... well i'm just up for a wee while my back was sore lying in bed then im back off for a sleep but when i get up i will clean the bathroom as well hhmmmm not sure what other room i will complete though ...but after reading that book (yes it's that book again) i am going to attempt to put my keys in the same place (unless i am using them ofcourse) its the one thing that if i am ever gonna be late for something it'sbecause i cant find my keys ...i'm also gonna keep the kitchen table clean this is a table i use for paper work etc which invariably gets covered in washing pot/pans etc ...and the last but possibly the most important for the rest of the plan to work is i am gonna attempt to take a bag with me wherever i go so i can be more organised ..i hate handbags hate em i tell you i'm more a pocket person but i cant keep a diary etc in a pocket so i will have to get used to carrying a handbag uggg

Morning! Once again I shoudn't be here as I've got an entire house to clean in about 3 hours, but I had to, er, check my emails in case there was anything important first.

Good luck to you all with your housework challenges. If I manage to get mine done I might pop on for a quick gloat before we leave for Dublin this afternoon, if I don't then you probably won't hear from me until the weekend!!!

Good luck with your Sunday deadline Hypno - sounds like a massive challenge! Don't do yourself in over it though!

Just a word about the oven thing - I used one of those purpose builtpacks earlier this year, and frightened myself to death with it, the oven wouldn't stop smelling of it for days. Never again. Mind you, I clean it so infrequently, I'll be able to get a new self-cleaning oven by the time it needs doing again, and the workmen who come along to chuck it out will just have to hold their breath!

Don't worry, hypno, I'm not overdoing it, in fact I'm taking things really slowly. Really seeing this weekend that my health is more important than anything, including my house and my career.

    Morning!

I am soooo tired today, we were out late last night (went to see Jimmy Carr - very VERY funny), and DS is poorly so is off school AGAIN (he's had no sick days for a year and then 2 within the last couple of weeks).

Anyway, at least we can relax and feel sorry for ourselves in our nice tidy living room. :T Going to make a half hearted attempt to clean and tidy the dining area today. I did it when I cleaned the kitchen but it's a mess again already.

My Mum was supposed to be bringing her carpet cleaner over yesterday but she forgot it, so at least I have an excuse for not doing that this week. :D

And because Mum & Dad were coming over, I was shamed into cleaning the bathroom, so it's lovely and spotless.

Still to do on my chaos challenge:

    Dining area
    Clean carpets and sofas
    Hall and staircase
    Clean kids room
    Tidy kitchen drawers
    Tidy bedroom drawers
    Tidy out walk-in wardrobe

But first I think I'll have a little rest.... :rotfl:

Hi there el - thanks! - I'm okay, not great but just getting by on the minimum, which isn't very nice before Christmas. Got to be done tho. I'm incredibly unfit - I'm slim, so I don't look it, but I had a relapse with my virus recently because I was working in the garden for about an hour - I used to be so fit in my twenties, and its gone. And the old cliche is really standing out to me now, if you don't have your health, you don't have anything. The oven cleaner was a message in that vein too - who cares about a dirty oven if you're poisoning yourself with the cleaning fumes?

Dublin....... love it........ relly from way back (great x 3 grandfather) came from Dublin - boy, I bet it was different then!).

How's you, el? Sorry for the hijack hypno - are you back yet after your hour's dash?

Success! I intended doing an hour's work before coffee and MSE and managed an hour and three quarters :T

So, now am allowing myself 15 mins break before I do another couple of hours before I can break for lunch.......I will get my work done.....I will.....I will!!

El, I have to get up at the crack of dawn to get everyone else up for school etc, but I am not a morning person so rarely get much done at that hour! You, on the other hand work all hours, so how you can say we are doing better than you, I don't know!! Trying to work odd shifts and catch up must be really hard. You do so well. good luck with the keys.

Snaggles, I think a pre-chaos-challenge rest is an absolute must. Otherwise how on earth do you expect to manage it :D

Panda - don't worry, I won't overdo things, but I will be working hard - really want to do a good job and if I don't do it this week, I fear it may not be done!! Going well so far this morning so fingers crossed!!

OK, having a lunch break now - am allowing myself until 2.30 then back to working - I am getting on quite well, so don't want to lose the flow of things, but equally it is quite tiring so I do need to have a bit of a break, but might be in danger of not getting back to it if I take too long, IYSWIM!

Just had a phone call from the Uni asking if I can go in and help out tomorrow - so of course because I am unable to say NO I have said I will be there.....need to work twice as hard today then to make up for the time I can't work at home tomorrow! Why do I do this!

Have also got an extra invigilating session on Wednesday morning - all money in the pot, but not allowing me to get my work done aaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhh!

Oh well, onwards and onwards a little bit more!!
