hi Guys! Another monday morning, and another week of debt busting and money making is upon us!

Today I am intending to get a load of work done at home. Until the kids go to karate this evening I have nothing else to get in my way......well except the kettle and MSE of course!

I will also give the bathroom a quick spruce up as well - it is not too bad so won't take me long.

I hope you all have a good day xx

  • Good Morning, hypno and all her readers.

Wow, what a lot you've all achieved and plan to achieve this week on the housework front. I'm plodding along doing what I can but as DH is in the middle of(or rather never likely to end this year)major ongoing DIY projects in 3 different areas of the house:eek: it's a case of just trying to get round without tripping over tools and buckets or electrocuting myself on the exposed wiring etc. At least it has some advantages in that should anyone call I can just say "please excuse the mess, we're in the middle of renovation work":rotfl: . The real problem starts when/if it's all finished and I have to keep on top of the housework:o

Just saw this free competition for a cleaner for a year and immediately thought of all you housework challengees. Just check on the website that your area is covered. Needless to say I won't be going in for it myself!

    Good Luck

    Wow, thank Imp! I've entered.

Hope you get lots done today hypno. I am off to my office job where I am also going to shoehorn bits of other work, including going out for a meeting. I wonder if they'll notice...

    Thanks Imp! Have entered!!!

I have to point out that my housework still only really scratches the surface of my mess and clutter - to do everything properly would take ALL my time at the moment I think, so although my bedroom, for example, looks lovely and tidy for the first time ever, I haven't sorted the drawers and wardrobes etc out, which really should be done.

So I am doing a bit like flylady - level one and level two! Level three is the cupboard under the stairs.........

Have a good day at work, Seax. I would normally be at the Uni, but have finished there, which is good really as I have all this home based work that really really needs to be done. I have a deadline of it of Sunday, and it HAS to be done by then. Also, it is taking up all the dining room at the moment so in order to reclaim that room, and tidy it for the challenge, I need to do this work!

I am sure you can squeeze in a bit of your own work.....I won't tell!

Wow! I can't believe how much you guys have done! But, um, hypno, just noticed this in your plan for the coming week:

"This coming week, as well as the dining room I am going to do the main bathroom (never use it myself so goodness knows what I will find  ), the cloakroom, and the stairs and landing - I made a start on the stairs today but need to get them finished. Also need to polish in the hall etc."

Errr, what happened to one a week? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyway, its lucky that its the dining room this week, cos I haven't got one! That means I'm free to carry on with the kitchen and the lounge - still haven't managed to wash the floors in either of those, and once thats done, that'll be a big step forward. Couple of things I did do in the living room tho - went through a load of magazines and sorted (chucked) loads, and went through the cubbyhole in the bookcase where I used to keep my "inbox" - it got so full, I started keeping the new inbox on the table. I chucked *loads* out - between the two things, my recycling pile was 9" higher!!!! V pleased with myself. :D

Actually, what I can do is the toilet - the floor there should be cleaned too. Okay, thats me done, now I can sit back in awe again at the coffee-fuelled antics of you lot!

Morning KC!! The thing is I have 6 rooms downstairs and 6 upstairs to do plus the hall, stairs and landing - so with only 6 weeks from the beginning of the challenge to the end of it, I need to do more than one room a week! So, I am trying to do one "Main" room, eg kitchen/lounge/dining room etc plus at least one of the smaller rooms - bathroom/loo/utility etc.

Otherwise I have no hope of getting done!!

I hope you have had a good weekend, and have a good week ahead planned.

Oh I remember you saying that! :rotfl: Thats in the plan then! The weekend was a funny old time, actually - I had some stuff planned, but had to cancel it, I just wasn't well enough. So I did some very small errands in town, and for the first time in a long time, got everything done on my list, but that was that. Then Sunday I did the paperwork chucking out that I'm so proud of :rotfl: :o :rotfl:, had a rest, and decided I needed to get out - just went to another local shopping centre and window shopped. Had a few splurges over the weekend, I think I'd drained myself a bit trying to cut down too far, but since the total of my splurges come to about a tenner, and half of that is on medium strength manuka honey (for my immune system) I'm not doing too badly. Sounds like you feel bright and breezy this morning, is that right?

    Morning everyone :D

My plan for the house this week is to tackle the study and the dining room.

The study is the dumping ground of the house unfortunately so there is very random stuff in there and now there is also loads of xmas presents.

Morning doodledo - good luck with the dumping ground - I have one of those....no, make that several!!

KC, you must make sure you pace yourself - viruses have this awful habit of leading you into a false sense of security regarding how fit you are, then you go and do something pretty ordinary, and the virus goes "ha ha fooled you" and you are exhausted again! Take care xx. The splurges don't sound toooo bad though - could have been worse!!

I really need to start working. If I start now - 8.30, then I will be back on MSE in an hour.......then 15 mins break before I start again - that is my plan for the day........watch this space!!

I recommend that "caustic gel and a big plastic bag" stuff. Works for me - though I did leave my chrome cooker bits outside overnight to "ferment" well in it...

Good idea! We have tried that with the Mr Muscle stuff but it doesn't get it completely clean (shows how bad it is). I am sure the fumes would be bad for a pregnant person though *ahem* maybe can convince OH of that and get him to do it.
