Hypno's kick up the backside debt diary....

Well, the first day of competition is over and the children both finished higher than their start rank, so everyone was pleased, and more importantly they enjoyed it.
I have now committed to getting them training on snow for the winter though, and they start next month! The cost for the season is around £7000
So, I have to get this money by hook, crook or ebay and it will be a challenge with the biggest capital C ever! But, hey, you know me - a challenge is there to be taken up!
So, I have a new figure in the signature - I will be saving for skiing. This means that the overpayments will stop, and I will just stick to the snowball calculator minimum requirements at the moment. I know that I could put the "savings" to the overpayments which might be the best financial solution short term, but that would then mean re-borrowing the money to pay for skiing which will be mighty demoralising to see the total go down, and then go up again!!

WOW..well done the Hypno kids!!!!...that's fantastic....Thats some challenge Hypno....good luck with that ..not..that you need it as I know you will manage it and you sure do like a challenge.....how does this skiing work out(eg on snow)....£7000 is a lot of money...do they have to go away ....that's what I meant...and do you have to go away with them ...but I know you'll find the money from somewhere as we all do for our children0

Yes, they ski again tomorrow - another early start.
They will be skiing and schooling through the winter, doing race training and racing in Austria and France with the British Ski Academy. They will be there on their own - they have tutors out there and they ski in the morning and do schooling in the afternoons - work is sent out by their schools so they don't fall behind.
I am hoping to go out for a couple of weeks as "house mother" to reduce the cost which would be good, and I have managed to get a bursary to help a bit, but it still leaves this huge sum to find. The children are ready to help - DD has her name down for a paper round but has not yet been lucky so we will be carbooting and ebaying what we can, and getting them involved as much as poss.
They have also been set a fitness schedule to start on Monday - runs before school. Perhaps they should join the DFW running club!
I am determined to give them this opportunity. It is almost a once in a lifetime thing, and if they do not do it now, they will not ever do it, so I will do everything I can to try and get them through it.
DS found £1 on the floor today, and I already had £20 saved - so only another £6979 to go............see, we are getting there already!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Wow what a fantastic opportunity for the children. And what a fantastic mother to put her own dreams of debt-freedom on the back burner to support them. None of us in DFW-land can have the slightest doubt you'll achieve it.
Maybe it's time to pop up to the loft and drag down a box or two of books for Amazon.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
This doesn't mean I have pulled out of the race to £35,000...........I have just slowed to a steady jog........:rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

I agree with you..once in a lifetime opportunity..what a lovely mum you are!!!!....heres a thought...how about involving the local paper to see if you can find a business sponsor and maybe do a fundraising event with a raffle you could donate a couple of therapy sessions as a prize and local businesses..restaurants,shops etc may donate....or you can ignore that idea if it's silly0

hi
Agreed - what a fantastic mum and opportunity for the kids!
Perhaps you could (using the kids) do some kind of sponsor thing amongst your family (and possibly friends?) to help raise a bit of the money - the kids could agree to do certain sponsored things or things that they don't like doing so much to help to contribute towards the money? I'm not sure what, but I know my mum asked round at one point in my childhood when I wanted to do something and people were more than happy to donate a fiver towards it and as this is such a large amount, people need not know that you are in debt etc, as this is a lot for any family!
