Oh hypno, how disheartening to see that big amount for your next target. Nevertheless, I know you'll get there. I'm sure you've made the right decision and I look forward to seeing the number tumble.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Hopefully not too disheartening, Seaxwyn, because I know that each payment made off OH card will stay off - so the total will keep coming down, whereas with my card, it comes down, then goes up again, then comes down, then up again, and that is even more disheartening really!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. i know what you mean - my overdraft is like that (actually it's spookily close to the amount on your OH's Egg card right now)Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I was SO happy when my no 1 target debt went under £1,000. I thought it would be paid off in no time but it has proved a persistent little b*gger.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

The nice bit about snowballing though is if you attack the big APRs first you reduce your interest payments quicker, so each month you should see them getting less from you which is definitely better
You don't want to give Egg more money that you have to, do you!
Did more MBing last night, and more planned for today. OH & I are also going to reread the intro threads, hopefully more will sink in now we're had a couple of tries.0 -
Hypno, once you clear OH's Egg card you will also be under the £40k mark ... how good is that gonna feel??? :j  Do you have a date you're aiming for to reach it??Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Blimey, here I am back again, it took me nearly ten minutes to read through whats been posted since yesterday morning! Hypno, your diary is a roaring success! Just to come back on the diary thing...... I think I must be very "blokey" in some ways, even tho I'm a *grrrl" - my diary is a 99p job from the local open air market, and has been for years. And in the spirit of decluttering (said spirit lives on my right shoulder, you know) all other diaries and journals are on the computer. My novel did get wiped when I had to reboot one time and the backup disc was corrupt, but then it wasn't very good anyway.
Otherwise (KC reports in smartly), successful day yesterday on the main job front, and once again put a bit of extra by, by walking home at night instead of paying a taxi (busy road for cars, quiet for pedestrians, so v safe). But now I *have* to buy trainers today, no matter what cr*p I find - not only do mine have holes in that you can put a couple of fingers through, but they're so thin on the soles that the balls of my feet hurt this morning when I got up! How on earth did I let them get that bad? And they cost 26 euros about 3 years ago.... does anybody else do things like that? I've never gone this barmy before, I must say.
Hypno, good to hear you following the "advice" of the snowball -awful that the small chunk is that big, but great that once down it will stay down.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi Benben, I def want to be below that £40k by Christmas but I am racing Seaxwyn to £35000 and we did originally both hope to be at that point by Christmas. Sadly, I think that I will fall some way short of it, but if I can get into the £30s then I will be happy - I started the year with over £50k of debt so if I can have cleared over £10k of it then that has to be good!
Then next year, I should get below £20k if the harsh targets I am setting myself come off!! how good would that feel
Anyway, I am pretty pleased that I have paid off over £9000 already this year - if I can get shot of another debt completely I will be over the moon :j :j :j
I think one of the reasons that I was paying off my egg card first, despite it not being on the snowball first was that it is the only credit card I have left (although I do still have a mahoosive loan) so if I got rid of it I would be CC free! But it is not happening the way I want it to, so I will go back to plan A - follow that snowball!
Today I have three clients, so that is good moneywise, OH is working back to back shifts in his second job so he is earning, and I will be leaving my purse at home when I go to the ski shop to help my friend choose some new ski boots. I will not be tempted to spend......I will not!!
Dinner will be out of the freezer/cupboard. Next weeks meal plan is already done and is in the diary, and then this evening we will sit and watch X factor together.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
