    PM away!!

Well, the children have just been into the city - they have been saving up for Nintendo DS's for what seems like forever. They both decided to go for "pre-owned" ones from Game, so they cost a lot less than new, but both children are currently very happy (and very quiet!!).

I did not spend anything - was tempted, but didn't take any means of paying, so I can come home feeling virtuous for once! The children picked up a couple of free goody bags from the city too, which had loads of packs of chewing gum. Gum is banned in our house, but OH chews it when not with us, so he is kept in gum now for the next few weeks - all in all a successful trip!

Glad to hear it's been a good day. Sounds like good timing getting the Nintendos at the start of the holidays.

Zippy's already given me some info, which has set me off 'googling' for various courses and looking into various options. So I think you've been rescued from PMs from me for a while.

Well, DS bought one of these pre-owned DSs and got it home to find it was faulty.

But, rang Game and told them and they put another one aside for him - took the first one back to be given a brand new one in its place!!!

So one happy bunny in the hypno household tonight!

Have you ever thought about joining Gametart? I pay £28 every 3 months and DD and DS can rent games. They keep the game for as long or as little as they want.It works out well as they regularly choose games that they "really really want" then find they don't like them or games that DS gets and completes in a week then doesn't want to play any more. Quidco were doing a month's trial when we started with it. You could always try that and get paid for it then cancel if you're not interested.

Thanks choco, will look into that - I don't mind signing up to something that I can cancel, but I really think that these consoles will be a 5 min wonder for them - they are spending so much time skiing that they don't have time to sit down!! I think they will be useful in the car when we go to Devon next month, but don't know how much they will use them other than that!!

If I could sign up to something to rent games for the holidays that would be good - also I think our library rents them out too, must investigate that one!!

Se999 feel free to PM, like zippy says it's great to hear from people doing similar things.

Hypno, i've been quite lucky with the courses I've done as they've been the more 'mainstream' treatments I guess. I'm currently doing a diploma in complementary therapies in cancer care at Christies hospital which is great as it's taking existing treatments I do and giving me more experience.

Glad the DSs are keeping them quiet. That'll buy you some time over the holidays. Have a good weekend xx

That course in using your therapies in cancer care sounds fab, LJD.

Today I have had a very rare lay in. So, So glad I didn't think about doing a car boot sale today!

The children are at my Mum's for a bbq thing that her work do, and OH is still asleep, so peace and quiet for a moment!

This evening we are off to see Madness at an outdoor concert, so hoping for a dry day...........hmmmm what are the possibilities of that then  yup, I thought so........off to dig out brolly and wellies!

In true DFW style we are taking food with us/eating before we go, so that we do not get conned into spending £4 on a meagre portion of chips or £5 on a warm beer!

Apart from that, I need bread and milk from the shop so will buy them using my nectar points. I have (just about) managed to stick to the shopping budget for the month. I know I still have a week to go, but we will manage on storecupboard things for the next few days, and I still have £7.50 nectar points and £5 in morrisons vouchers so no reason why we shouldn't survive!

Next month's spreadsheet is poised ready to go - another tight month, because we are going on holiday to Devon (which we know we can do cheaply, we just have to stick to it!!) and the children have 2 ski camps to do which will be costing me over £500!! Need to get car-booting through the summer to cover some of them otherwise I will be very stressed come September!

    Hi hypno!

Sounds a nice day for you - tho if you're looking for peace and quiet, an outdoor Madness might not be *quite* the best idea!!! Hope you all enjoy it tho. I've had a Harry Potter break from all things dfw - and today is mostly recovering from it, tho I am posting an Amazon package. Have a good day.
