Thanks shineyhappy! I have lots of baking stuff here so could easily whip up a plate of something for all to share. Even better - if DS does it, then it would be personally from him.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. well, finally OH's missing pay has gone in the bank. Payroll sent it to an incorrect account and it has been sitting in the bank suspense account! But the main thing is that it is now where it belongs!!
Have been looking for quotes for car insurance and the good news is, so far, it comes in within budget, and that means, once I have moved money out of the matched betting account, and the paypal money hits the bank, that we will finish the month within our overdraft limits :j
Obviously there is still a lot of July left, but normally by this stage we are incurring bank fees for being over our limits, and we do still have (some) money in the jars for food and petrol. So barring any unforseen circumstances we will be in the best position we have been in for ages!
I still have cupboards and freezers full of food for storecupboard meal plans, and an emergency fund in the coppers jar, which currently sits at about £20 so hopefully we should be ok!
I am so motivated, I have even started August's spreadsheet, although until OH gets paid I cannot fill much of it in. But even so - it shows I am not scared of what lays ahead of us!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. RE presents for Primary Teachers. I don't think it is expected and I always feel a little bit embarrassed. The best thing I have ever got was from a little girl in year 2 which was a hand made card and a letter saying what she had enjoyed in my class and how much she would miss me. I loved it but it made me cry!0

And very DFW too! Will have a word with DS later and see how much effort he is prepared to put in (not much knowing him).
I have spent the last half hour doing surveys on Test and Vote - not signed up to them before and I think it will be years before I have "earnt" enough for a voucher, but hey, it keeps me out of mischief!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi hypno.
Just wanted to add that I had a conversation at work just the other day actually about this giving presents to teachers business, with a colleague. One of his best mates is a teacher and he said he gets embarrassed by the showy presents and seeing parents compete with each other over stuff.
If presents *are* to be given, then the home-made route is definitely the way to go if he is a true representative.
He said a home made card meant more to him then anything flashy or simply even shop bought.
Now I know you're not even *thinking* of doing flashy but this along with comments other people have made reinforces the home made and thoughtful approach eh?
So the cuttings from plants or some baking (as well as HM card!) is excellent.
Let us know what you do in the end won't you?
LA xx
PS. Someone mentioned scones....I haven't had scones for years and now I really fancy some!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Thank you all for your valuable input (as always!).
Home-made and sincere is def the way to go, and if I can get DS to do it himself it will be doubly good!
Alternatively, I may buy a prada bag, gucci shoes and a bottle of moet & chandon, as we are keeping it "low key" :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
