  • Good Morning,Hypno

Just a thought. If your OH is getting called into work in his holiday week, I hope he's being paid lots of extra as compensation:j

    Here's to another money-making/no-spending day:beer:

P.S. I was just thinking how great(not to say convenient) it is that both your children participate in the same sports. Transporting busy kids is an expensive nightmare these days so it's great they always go to the same places. None of my siblings and I ever did the same activities but that was when kids used to get themselves to places as they were safer times and we didn't live in a rural area then. I remember as a teenager cycling miles, doing some sport for a couple of hours, then cycling back home afterwards. I wish I'd a fraction of that energy and fitness nowadays. I need a lie-down just remembering it

    Sorry to hi-jack your diary:o .
    Take care

I'm glad to hear you're all so confident of my magic powers.

I promise you, if I had them I'd use them only for good.

Hypno, I'm about to increase my lead on you (I am champing at the bit to pay £1360 off my CC - have just phoned the bank to find out when the cheque I paid in yesterday would clear and they said not til friday - aargh! how can they make me wait so long?!)

But don't call yourself a runner up yet, as after that one-off payment I have no idea at all how I'm going to get to the target. The work I have booked is only enough to cover basic outgoings, not make overpayments. Some work OH was offered last week is looking dodgy and he is going to say he can't do it, so he has precisely NO work booked now til October. Very scary.

So you have every chance of beating me to 35k but let's hope we both get there. I'll work my magic to that end.

Morning Imp! Hijack away - very happy to see you!

My kids do a lot together, largely because they are so close in age, only 15 months apart, so they have always been fairly close.

However, as I have one girl and one boy, and they are now 11 and 13, I am sure they will be moving away from each other at some point! They are happy to do the same things at the moment, and the things that they do separately are largely guides, and out of school sports which they can easily get themselves to!

OH had better be putting plenty down on his timesheet, otherwise I will be having a few choice words to say..............

I have dug out 4 old CC accounts that I am going to write off for statements for today. Not sure that there is a great deal to claim there, but will be worth investigating I am sure. Also need to claim mortgage exit fee too so I think today will be a letter writing day......

Hi Seaxwyn - good news about the chunk of CC payment. I am sort of stuck at the moment so really need to get my act together. Of course if Barclays ever pay up then I will be fine, but that is not looking so assured now so need to find other ways of getting the cash in!

How are you getting on regarding the billable hours?

    Hi Hypno,

I'm very jealous of the MB-ing - I keep reading the threads, and it just doesn't sink in! I'm hoping to try and get my head around it for August when the footie kicks off again as lots of people have said that it's a good sport to start with.

Did you manage to get much stuff on Ebay?

I did four hours on Sunday - by staying up to 2.45am - and a good day yesterday. Got lots of work today so I must get on with it!

I am finding this challenge very motivating, I didn't have an actual target before and I find that having one makes me think about how to pay off debt in a positive, excited way, rather than a pessimistic, worried way - if that makes sense.

Sorry to hear about your stuck feeling, I hope you have some success with matched betting this week and find some more ways forward. I'm sure you will, maybe you just need a little rest from your amazing efforts in the first half of this year.

Hi pania, sorry to disappoint you but we are not actually planning to pay off 35k by xmas, just to get our massive debts down to 35k. In my case that means paying off a little over 6k and in hypno's £7k

So far nothing on ebay - OH still at work!

I have done two re-claim letters so far this morning, 3 more to do......

P - I think you have got the wrong end of the stick! We are racing to see who can get down to £35k of debt first!!! Not who can pay off £35k before Christmas, nice though it would be!!!

Please do not join in the race to get to £35k first - you would be heading in the wrong direction!!

What we have done is set a challenge to pay off about £7000 by Christmas, so for Seaxwyn and me that means about £35k left to pay, which would be quite a nice feeling, given that I started the year with over £50k outstanding! You could join in to get to £25k by Christmas.......not unattainable with a bit of focus.........Are you up for that?
