Just a quick update on my progress - not a lot!
However, I saw my brother yesterday who has a dongle which WAS 3 and is now unlocked, so we popped my Samba SIM in and it worked, but I was a bit confused as it still SAID it was connecting via 3. Is that normal?
It was definitely going through the dongle, and he said this is what still happens with his SIM even though it's not a 3 SIM any more.
I will read the destructions for flashing etc in due course ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Got an Email from Samba today with the following in it:
"on the recent broadbandgenie speed test, Samba had faster download speeds than 02, T Mobile, Vodafone and Virgin!"
So I went and had a look at the chart - which showed EE was 50% faster than Three that Samba runs on!

Am I missing something? They don't claim to be faster than EE? Orang and T-mobile are two seperate companies still (despite the fact they partly merged there networks to create EE)James thinks worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere
If i help you...Please thank me! :beer:0 -
Exactly, Samba sent a link in their promo Email while implying that Samba on 3 was obviously fastest...
Yet when I visited the link, it showed EE as fastest. I guess the Samba marketeers didn't expect people to actually visit the linked page!0 -
With 3 announcing "Feel at Home" which means you can use your UK allowances in 9 countries abroad:
Australia
Austria
Denmark
Hong Kong
Italy
Republic of Ireland
Sweden.
This includes data.
With Samba using 3's network will this mean you can use Samba abroad in these countries and it will use the data accrued from looking at adverts therefore data roaming not costing any penny? Not expecting it to be the case but you don't know until you ask0 -

You will be bound by Samba's offer not 3. If it does not say so on Samba's website, then ring them up and ask them.0 -
Couple of days ago, I tried the Samba SIM is dual SIM phone I just bought. While I could use data from another SIM but I could not use data in Samba SIM.
Is this a settings issue or is Samba for tablets and dongles only?0
