  • HAPPY NEW YEAR to all quitters.

Lets make 2013 nic free and help our health, purses, family and lungs.

It is scary when you think about giving up a habit you've had for over 20 years. You wonder how life could possibly be the same ever again. You may go through symptoms similar to bereavement. You may kid yourself that you will be the 1 in 2 who doesn't get a smoking related disease. Get real! Do you puff climbing up and down stairs? You will. Do you smell of stale smoke on your clothes and breath? You do. Do you spend serious money on little white sticks that you set fire to? You do. Will life be the same without this habit? It wont - it'll be better because you will be able to be everything you've ever wanted to be. Nothing can hold you back.

Your future, your decision. Come and talk to us.

such an excellent post money maker! happy new year to everyone out there. Hope you come and join us real soon.

    Hi Sue & Co,

I need to come back again. Despite giving up (again) during Stoptober, I decided to smoke over Christmas - with stress in the run up being my feeble excuse.

Yes I know I'm daft :o So back to day 1 again and actually its not that bad (ask me again this evening though and it might be a different story).

To anyone else giving up today, well done :) you won't regret it.

I do not want to spend any more of my time, health or money on smoking. I do not want to wheeze all the time. I do not want to stink like a stale ashtray. I do not want to look stupid and cheap stood outside of a building puffing away on a cancer stick.

I do want to be able to fund my shoe and handbag habit - much nicer on the eye and lungs ;)

    Will check back in later.

    Pen
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

Hi Pen and very well done in starting over again THIS quickly!!! That really shows a determined spirit not wanting to give her life over to the dreaded fags; I'm really impressed and feel you're surely bound to find the 'horse to get straight back on' and do well.

Strangely enough I followed the Stoptober people on Twitter and often wonder just how many made it through...I hope a lot, but if not then at least you did!

As a matter of interest, Pen, how many days and cigs have you smoked?

Anyway, you're really wise and did exactly what you knew was best, to come on back for some support and get back to your shoes and handbags! :D Read through the posts IF you need more inspiration, though I think you know what to do, but just shout for any parts you particularly need help with.

    All best wishes, Pen.

    Sue x

An excellently put message, Money maker! I hope a lot of people will be taking note of that for a long time to come.

    Hi Sue,

Thanks for the welcome. I smoked again for 15 days and for the last week it was about 10 fags a day. Gross Marlboro lights too! I don't even like the last of them.

A classic example of thinking I was coasting along with it and I could do the odd one with a drink.

aw that "just one or two with a drink. Won't hurt" particular favourite of mine, whily old Nic eh?

Excellent news for getting back on the wagon so soon penelopedee :T I should think in a couple of days you can put the last 15 days down as a minor hic up/relapse

    Cleaned the house yet?

I did take the tree and decs down first thing this morning then cleaned through downstairs. It feels a lot less dusty and cloggy in here.

A real shame, Pen, but as I said, I'm sure you'll be back where you were and have it imprinted on your mind NEVER to fall foul to that little, as determined says, "whily Nic". Myself, I'd call him a lot worse than that, but know determined is sooo averse to using any naughty language with regard to Nic  She has her own special way of telling him to go away, don't you D?!!!! :rotfl:

Think that Tia Maria last night made me go all bold type on my post :rotfl:

Welcome penelopedee, sounds like you have already done the hardest bit - making the decision to stop. It was something I thought about for a couple of years before I got serious. Don't beat yourself up about an odd relapse. Incidentally, lots of smokers think they need a cigarette to deal with stress but this actually puts more stress on them by creating a new demand for the nic monster to be fed.

Congratulations determined new ms:j you have come such a long way.
Hi Sue :wave:looked in on your SPC thread, wow what a lot of work you have keeping up with all of them.
