Folks - I am absolutely thrilled to bits that our thread has been visited by

Jo1972 founder of the original "Giving Up Smoking" thread way back in 2007!!!!!

Jo, thank you so very, very much indeed for starting so many people on their journey of a life time which has resulted in over 30 people having successfully Quit over the last few years!!! :T:T:T:T:T If it wasn't for you then many of them might not have done so.

A HUGE THANK YOU for all you've done for members of MSE, yourself too!!! :T:T:T:T We've had some hiccups along the way, but now we're here....so if you know of anyone looking to quit without the use of handheld devices, please, send them on to us. :D

Very many thanks, Jo and many congratulations to you too! :T:T

    Me too:rotfl:
Can now understand those smug ex smokers and why they moan.

Had to adjust my halo again today as the dentist enthused over my new status as non smoker. She was really pleased about me stopping and hopefully I'll not have to see her too often.

Bit on the hot side for me but finding the ice pops coming into their own. I get the pack of 40 car/toy story ones from Iceland. Only £1 and ideal for my 4 yo DD.

You know in some ways, Money maker & Sal it's hard not to moan about smoking after we finally free ourselves from the grasps of nicotine; we begin a whole new way of life, similar to those who've never smoked, so little wonder we find all the disgusting sides of it. In many ways guess it's normal for us to now loathe them. Just me musing.

Fantastic news about your teeth :D, Money maker, doesn't it make you feel just wonderful when someone praises you for the good you've done for your life!! :j BTW, you'll be using a few of those Ice Poles at the moment, though......are you sure you let your little darling have any?? :rotfl:

Sue x BTW, Where's your time passed and method used?;)

Hi JD, what a difference we've made to ourselves! All needing that extra time spent on our teeth due to the nicotine and tartar, but now we dazzle em as soon as we walk in!!!! :D

I'm closing with a couple of your statements, JD, they are perfect for wannabee quitters to ponder over. :T I still keep seeing all the good things about quitting, girls, and know you do too.

    Sue x

BTW, You're quiet, Sal, how are things with you?

making that decision to quit can feel scary , but once committed the rewards are there for the reaping in so many ways.

Has anyone had big, red raised patches on their skin after using nicotine patches? Mine are appalling. They are gradually fading over weeks

Hi 166milion, sorry about the switch, but we had more problems. So this thread is the new "Giving Up Smoking" one. Great news to see you've subscribed to the thread. :)

Sorry, but it sounds as though you could have got an allergy to them. :( Have you tried putting them on other parts of the body? It doesn't matter where.

I get them wherever I place the patches. It's not stopping me using them though. I'd rather have a rash than spend money, stink and be breathless. x

Oh that's an amazing attitude, 166million!!! I've got to applaud you on your spirit!. :T

How far have you got in quitting?

Perhaps it might be a good idea to pop into your Pharmacy and ask the advice of the Pharmacist; with your determined attitude :jhe might suggest you take some intihistamines to see you through.

Not to worry...from today as you say. :D

IF you do have any though....try to leave having any at all until late at night, that way you'll be more and more inclined to think "s!d it, I'd just as well quit altogether"

Have a read through of my first post and how I stopped, it's much the same as I'm advising you and how you've been doing. However, if you can do without any at all...so much the better for certain.

Keep visiting to say how you're doing. We'll get you through this difficult time, after all, you have your health to think of and are obviously wanting to quit, so be careful.
