God just had a panic there that I had either been rude or made a major faux pas. My mind is all over the place today!!! I couldn't of told you what was in that email if my life depended on it :o so went back and checked! No what I meant was I can't take it back (falling off the wagon and smoking for another year ) so I might as well get on with it.

I know each battle is one less to contend with :j don't really want to use the lozenges as want to be as free as soon as possible but on the other hand need to be able to work and not walk around in a confused, dazed and depressed state for the next week :o:o:o:o

Just saw my colleague go out for a cig and didn't even want to go with him :T think will be easier after work as can go for a walk, do some major cleaning/clean bedroom & car and then crawl into a clean bed, hopefully, exhausted and fresh smelling and make my way to the land of nods :D

Sue how are you after your fall last year? x

Sorry, I know what you're interpretation was, but I just jumped on the words to use, more because of the "Vie" part than anything else.

I understand what you men about the lozenges, but if they'll help you in the earlier stages then so much the better for the moods. You can always give them the heave ho as soon as you think they've done their job. A bit like a walking stick to tide you over a twisted ankle. Well, that's my take on it, warped or otherwise. :D

Well done on your thoughts when your colleague went walkies, another to proudly chalk up ! !

Re the fall: I got over the most of it, but the poor hand just couldn't recover, something to do with the ligaments. I'm still having physio but she doesn't hold out much hope. I can't stretch the hand out or make a fist, I just wish I could get rid of the pain in the under part of the wrist. However, I keep thing of the (whatever you call it) "I complained about the pain in my feet - until I met a man with none! It could be far worse! :)

  • I know what you mean, so easy to be so ego-centric and then meet someone else whose struggles put mine into perspective and make me realise how lucky I am.

I heard a great saying the other day (off of a diary of someone who has faced some real challenges and seems so positively, although obviously the odd wobble) "if everyone threw their problems up in the air, you'd be happy to catch your own" really makes you think doesn't it?

opps better actually do some work...

  • Ok so far so good I think? Have managed to not smoke despite a family crisis today - obviously family problems go on longer than 12 hours but this was the epicenter. There have been moments when I have thought "ok sod it lets go get some cigs" but by the time I was in a position to buy any that moment had gone - phew! i.e. I was upset after work (re family issues) and we went for a walk to the pub, sainos is half way between our home and the pub, but by the time we got to sainos the moment had passed :T

    stats for today are:

2 fleeting moments when I could have smoked
0 times when I bought cigs or smoked :T
I have been smober for 22hrs and 45 mins :T
I have saved a grand total of £1.52 and not smoked 18 cigs :j (previously I smoked duty free rollies)

    My reasons for quitting are:

    1. My best friend is having a baby and I am to be godmother :j the very last thing I want to be is smelly aunt D :o

    2. We are in the process of buying a house and the cash spent on cigs can go towards over paying the mortgage and also reducing the ins (life/critical illness & contents)

    3. the general fear of dying a slow and painful death, not being able to go for long country walks and just general painful illnesses all round  and where there isn't illness there is psychological trauma

those are my reasons. Feeling very positive about making it through today. Didn't quite manage the mega clean that I would but have washed the dressing gowns and rome wasn't built in a day :p

You've done really well, determined, so I hope you're well pleased with your first day, very proud. :D 'Hiccups' are a pest when we stop, but life's full of them and you know all too well that fags solve none of them! You've done yourself proud in getting through those times, remember that for suc times in the future.

Three really great reasons for stopping, especiallyNo 3! You're on your way to a far healthier life, determined.

Money is always a key issue to those seeking to stop smoking and putting your towards the mortgage will certainly help.

No 1 has to be good when you think what sort of role model a smoker is to a youngster! All great reasons, determined, always bring them to mind at awkward times.

Have a good night's sleep and when you put your head on your pillow tonight, be happy and so proud at having a whole day done and dusted. You won't need to do that day again!

Don't worry about the cleaning, save that for a time when you need to get something out of your system! I always find it works wonders with me on a bad day....scrubbing, hoovering or polishing like mad is a great stress-buster. ;)

    Sleep well...be proud.

Did someone mention the B word ;) Mmmmmm Biscuits :D

welcome from me determined glad to see you here, try not to be hard on yourself but take it as lesson learned. there can never be just the one ciggy

i have been there done that and after 9 months was back into my old habits so damn quickly, but thats behind me i started a new slate
(initially had a lot of the "if only i hadnt started i would be x ampunt of time fag free " ) but i stopped beating myself up about it and knuckled down , a day at a time and now am over 10months free:D

it Does get easier, important to stay focused and renmind yourself of reasons why quitting is right for you
silkquit meter is a great motivator

keep them in mind and come on here rant or whatever it takes but Dont undo all the hard work and give in, it just leaves you feeling miserable

seems like you can show your DD it can be done she may join you to, and your colleagues that smoke they will very quickly smell quite grim when they come in from fag breaks

    stay strong
