It's a new dawn, it's a new day and in two years i'll be feeling good...

  • Had a look at my spending spreadsheet last night, and i'm not at all convinced i log everything as a) i forget to and b) most things are cash and i don't tend to remember the chocolate / coffee spends - although for 2013 i will try and reduce these massively. Anyway we spent £53k this year, which is pretty much what we earn net. What is good is some of the items will stop over the next year or two and if we keep calm, we can start to choose what we want to do:D.

However the spends continue as this morning i've ordered a hockey stick and gloves (hopefully that is gloves and not a glove) for DD as she needs them for going back to school, grand total of £22.97 and through £co:money:. Had a look on ebay but nothing came in that reasonable once you factor in postage and no ability to return if they aren't the right size etc.

DH at work today and then he's off for all of next week, so hopefully i can start to sort through some of the children's stuff and get ebaying / decluttering etc.

  • Morning PWD, I think thats a bargain for the hockey stick and gloves, well done!

I really need to get my stuff together for ebay and take photos, just can't seem to find the motivation though.
  • Morning Penny,

I don't feel any motivation to ebay either at the moment but maybe i should as my hands are getting cold again sitting here typing!

Have made two £5 ops to the secured loan and the mortgage, Merry Christmas Debt:p, just you wait until 2014 when i can sock it to you;).

Right 2013, at the moment we have 17 more IPA payments to make, this time at the end of 2013 there will be only 5 to go (with one of those going at the beginning of Jan 2014), so we will be so close to freedom from the Trustee:j:j:j.
This means i'm going to see 2013 as a positive year - OH YES I AM.
Will keep slogging away with the surveys, the ebaying and any little bits of extra work that come my way.
It'll be a year of change as the smallest child will start school in August and although we won't save much as his nursery saving will go to breakfast club, after school club and holiday club, there may be a few pounds extra.

So aim for 2013 is to take Penny up on her make £2,013 in 2013:eek:.

What else, well i really will try and cut down on the random chocolate / coffee spends and instead treat myself to a non-food reward when i HAVE to, so house type magazines, or perhaps Boilers Weekly would be better for the moment:mad:.
I think to keep focussed on the random spends i will start a jar and put the chocolate money on there to physically show me what a difference that could make. Is that too mad??

  • Just logged into the ISA to move DH's canvassing money over, his little salary increase and the saved milk money(:() and lo there was an unexpected interest credit of 21p:beer::beer:.
So will go and update my virtual OP amount, sadly this will now have to be renamed as the boiler replacement fund:(:(:(.
However, given 2013 is the year of positivity, once we can get functioning heating and hot water means we could get a lodger, well in theory...

Can't believe how much the woodburner is costing, it's going through a bag of logs and half a bag of peat a day, so approaching £10 a day. I suppose this will drop when we're all back at school / work but it's a shocking amount given it only heats one room:eek:.

  • It sure is Beanie, feel like i am actually putting a £5 note on the fire:mad:. How are you doing weight wise?

Anyway, as 2012 draws to a close i AM going to set Target No. 1.... get back under 14st ASAP, and Target No. 1.5 to get back to the 12-8 i had achieved, should be a doddle given being cold burns soo many calories:D.

Must get the first bit achieved by the time i go back to work, just over a week away. DH is planning a big roast dinner for tomorrow night, so a very light breakfast, veggie soup for lunch and big dinner and then we're off.

Will log the weight in the morning, 2013 coming at'cha!
