Not at the moment there isn't.

Generally, the £1 is the same as a first class item, except it should (as in usually, not always) be signed for the other end. Its processed in exactly the same way and is susceptible to the same problems. Only has £32 compensation max too, and you can't send stuff like cash, vouchers etc.

Special Delivery is more expensive, as its a guaranteed (or your money back) next working day service, you can pretty much send anything, and in theory you should be able to find out where your item is at any time and theres a greater level of compensation.

In all honesty, it depends what you're sending and why you're sending it.

the £1 one is not really reliable, i know that for fact my self personally :_
then there is the £4.10 that like not too much but in a way it is when you r sending few itmes a week like me,
i know that the items postede by £1.00 recorded do get delivered but not tracked, and that's where RM need to make some improvements or arrange a new service in between these two services so that people can have some sort of choice, rather than just putting up with it going to the differt curior services.

when few of my itmes and this was within the same week that i couldn't track all of my itmes and later they were assumed as lost, but some of them did get delivered, but i only made a claim for 1 itmem and for that i did get 12 1st class stameps.

I'm upset that you think I'm trying to defraud Royal Mail - I wouldn't do anything like that.

There are 2 problems. First, I'm not sure the receiving company has got the item. They are large and get lots of post, so am waiting still for confirmation from them. Secondly, as there is a turnround time from when they got the item, I want to know if they are meeting their service level agreement. That's why I use track and trace.

If the item hasn't been delivered, I need to claim for the item cost.
If it has been delivered, I have paid extra for track and trace - but not got the service. I therefore want to claim for a refund of this cost and point out that srevioce was incomplete.

Okay - its not a lot, but if no one complains, Royal Mail will just carry on with a poor service.

I thought this forum was for advice - thanks to those of you who gave it.

i totally agree with you mate !
why pay for a service that you not receive ???
similar situation arose in my case is well but out of few itmes i chose to claim for only 1 and that was for only the postage.

i don't think it has anything to do with fraud ..........

if look from different prospective how can it be fair with us as customers being charged extra for what ??
