Royal Mail lost my recorded post - or not

i would then have to supply recorded detils to paypal who would consider the item lost, which means if buyer really did receive and was trying to pull a fast one, paypal would take their side as i basically have no proof this item was signed for and delivered,i know royal mail could vouch for me and say it was delivered but without the proof
Thats not how it works in my experience. It's up to RM to decide if its lost or not. Not you, the buyer, or Paypal.
If the buyer says "not delivered" and the POD says "not yet delivered" or "delivered" (but with a different signature you raise a complaint with Royal Mail (you can do this online, they typically respond quickly IME). You have to say where it was sent, where too, value etc.
Then RM will says "its lost" or "we are investigating". When they agree its lost you refund your buyer via Paypal, and if you don't want a neg/neutral you do it as quickly as possible and apologise for your shipping companies failure to perfom. Then after a while royal mail will refund you, assuming of course you chose the correct option to cover the costs of the good sent.0 -
Good news - the item I sent was definitely received at the other end.
Still no proof of delivery via the internet or when I phoned Royal Mail - but at least the package wasn't lost.
Will seriously consider an alternative method next time to recorded delivery.

It depends where you live on the walk. Due to changes in the way the work is processed, most posties are not allowed to leave the sorting office until 8.30-9am.
Yesterday the traffic in the city my husband works in was horrendous - combination of accidents, bad weather and a major set of traffic lights stopped working. The usual 20 min journey took 90 mins, so he was delayed before he started delivering the post.
My street is one of the last on my posties walk, so we don't get ours until lunchtime. Here I go again on my own....0 -
thank you for that reply.
but before the postie use to deliver my post before i could leave to work at 9
and it was great sometimes even 8 or so O'clock
but now ....... !
{i think my house has travelled away from the postie's sorting office

it was my cashback letter which had to be there in 14 days or so,
but never minde it didn't even got there...and
wat they send me in compansation is a book of 1st stamps

That was in the two deliveries days. I used to get my post about 7-7.30pm then.
Now there is only one daily delivery, so posties have to wait in the mail centre until all the mail and mis-sorts come through, so they don't get out on delivery until 9am-ish.Here I go again on my own....0 -
Theres far too many issues to even consider responding to all of them, but i'll respond to the thread starter-
Basically, if the item has been delivered, but RM haven't provided proof of delivery, by all means claim the postage back. You should get a book of stamps at least, which will cover the postage.
For the people suggesting that she claims £32.00, even though she knows its been delivered, I wasn't aware that this board promoted fraud?
Edit to add:
It also appears that some people are seriously exaggerating the service that they have (or rather haven't) received and are spouting random statements that aren't actually true. RM aren't perfect by any means, but as with any company, you only hear the bad. Less than 0.01% of the mail goes missing or has a problem, which is still a lot, but no worse than any other courier or delivery firm.0
