You know that it has been delivered so, given the recipient has confirmed receipt, you should be OK and not need to worry wasting your time in making telephone calls, writing letters of complaints, visiting the post office . . . .
Ok then if what you are paying for is delivery, why do royal mail charge a extra 68p on top of delivery for recorded signed for items??????0 -
I'm sure they are giving the service. The fact that the website still isn't up to scratch doesn't mean that post isn't being delivered and signed for. For some reason, the website still doesn't seem to cope too well with recorded delivery, though special delivery seems to get logged OK.in my opinion its royal mail that are defrauding the public by not giving us the service we have paid for0 -
Sorry to just dive into a thread like this - but i posted a PS2 using 1st class recorded delivery last month. It has been signed for - but noone appears to recognise the signature.
I have sent away a claim form however I do not have proof of value for my item - will I still be able to claim my money back??Dream of being mortgage free....

if you sent an item first class the maximum amount you can claim for is 30 pounds I believe
for items worth more than 30 you need to consider using another service with enhanced compensationBaby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -
Just called royal mail cs,explained situation regarding items not being signed for when this service was paid for, awaiting reply from supervisor.0

Hold out for real compensation - not just return of basic postage. You may have to be persisitant but they CAN pay more even if the item has been delivered ( ask for a supervisor- they have the necessary authority) . I am up to £5 each time now
. Next time I shall be asking fro £10. 0 -

Sorry - this isn't entirely the case either. I have just had to check who signed for a letter I sent SD on 22nd February and although it confirms it was delivered from the sorting office before the guaranteed time there is no actual confirmation or signature that it actually got to the recipient. Luckily enough the recipient called me later to confirm they did actually recieve it.
Thes made me wonder and I decided to check the previous Special Deliveries I have sent in the last nine months and of the eleven I sent only five have signatures that can be seen and they all say the same as the one above i.e. delivered from the Sorting Office before the guaranteed time. It doesn't actually say it was delivered to the recipient and there is no signature so it could have gone anywhere between the sorting office and its destination?
Okay maybe I am being a bit overdramatic and I had never queried it as all the items were recieved but as mentioned above, we are paying extra for the service, but are Royal Mail actually providing it properly?0 -
£32 I think - but will they even consider that as I can't prove the value of the item I posted?SaraSeahorse wrote: »if you sent an item first class the maximum amount you can claim for is 30 pounds I believe

nope they won't. If you cannot provide them with a receipt or something similar to show the value of the item then you get zilch.
Royal mail give you p!ss poor service. I have totally given up on the recorded delivery service. I Either take my chances with normal post or pay loads for special delivery. Even then they can loose special delivery but you do get your money back.0 -

You can write to royal mail and they send you a copy of the proof of delivery (signature). I had to do this when they delivered the special delivery a day late.0
