Been to a few events now - if you are at the stadium itself, there are water fountains behind each block of concessions - not had to queue for these at all. There are also toilets here which not many people seem to notice so can be quicker to use those than the toilets at the bottom of the steps. Re food queues in the stadium , these are horrendous just before it starts ( 30 mins plus) but if you go back out approx 30 mins after the start of the session there are virtually no queues at all. Eating in the food court in the Westfield centre is also good, lots of choice and much quicker!

We made the mistake of needing to get food before the athletics tonight. I think this is one area that should have been better thought out. We waited 40 mins for a baked potato, and a lot of eating places had longer queues. What annoyed me was that only 2 of the 4 tills at the baked potato place were open, the staff were inefficient and slow. Plus there should just be more eating places, there is the space for them, and they must be over 10,000 people in the park.

Tomorrow we are buying sarnies or picnic stuff from Westfield and taking it in with us.
  • Queued for about forty minutes in the hockey arena, so be told that they had run out of sandwiches, this was around ten in the morning.

Standard coffee was £2.40, but MacDonalds (which had no queue, when we went) were selling it for £1.49, their chips were 99p.

Queues for tap water were very long.

Paid £5.90 for a very small pizza, but it was tasty and by lunchtime they had had the sense to have someone at the end of the queue, to advise what was still available.

    Hi,

have to say it, but McDs do seem to be coping inside the Olympic Park better than most of the others outlets.

Queues have been small and move fast, and plenty of seating. Prices are normal as well.

    Cheers,

Took food into the park from Waitrose at Westfield today, which worked well for us. Luckily there don't seem to be queues to just buy a soft cola type drink in the park.

Agree with others that McDonalds seem to be the only ones coping with serving food quickly and not running out.

We queued for 40 mins for curry last Friday inside the Olympic Stadium, 25 mins for a beef roll.

Yesterday I started looking for food at 13:00, pie and mash stand had run out of half their pies. Moved to Cornish Pasty stand, was told when I joined that they had run out of x, y, z but still had traditional. 10 mins later when I got to the end of the queue they only had chicken balti or cheese and onion pasties, or a cheese and tomato ciabatta. Moved to get a curry, only had a vegetable cheese curry. Finally settled on Italian and although they'd run out of bolognese and carbonara they did have a bland tomato sauce and pasta. No parmesan like they advertise, or garlic bread, and the pasta was soggy. So I finally got some food at 14:25.

Part if it is that I'm a fussyish eater, but I think it's appalling that so many places could run out of so many of their options in the middle of the afternoon.

I had high hopes for the food before the games started, but I've been disappointed a number of times now.

I think I must have had a lucky day. I queued about 10 mins for pie and mash at about 12.30 (and it was gorgeous!). Got several drinks from carts with no queues at all, queued about 5 mins for alcohol and got snacks at the stadium concessions with only a couple of minutes queue just before last nights athletics session. I noticed that a lot of people were going to the first concession stands they saw which meant that when a venue kicked out, the stands near there were packed and generally the ones by the stadium/aquatics centre were quieter than the ones in world square and nearest the big screens.
  • We took a 2 litre empty bottle, asked the first volunteer where the nearest fountain was, waited 4 mins and filled it up - didn't need to fill more during the day but there are plenty of fountains (also as you exit events) and loads of helpful volunteers to tell you where the fountains are. There were queues for the bar (5-10 mins at 1pm and 3pm) but plenty of small stands AND people roaming with "BEER" signs and backpacks full of chilled Heineken (£4.20/4.30 each) - others with soft drinks. We took food - but the fish and chips looked great. I suppose if you wait til you are hungry to queue then it's a bit annoying - but no more so than any big event. We left at 4.30 so the queues may have been longer later.

I was inside the Olympic Stadium (at the food outlets) and saw the roaming vendors (with the black box containers on their back) and was sceptical about how cold the bottled water would be.

So I asked the vendor "How cold is the bottled water" and she cheekily pressed a bottle to my face.:D It was very cold, I was happy and bought a bottle from her. No queue at all and a chilled bottle of water.

I can recommend this option, rather than standing in a long queue.;)
