Am I doing something wrong? On the Easter zone I can't find the competition for the supplied answer (thanks mich-city). I couldn't find it yesterday either. Yesterday the answer was flowers and today it is London...but where do I put these answers??

PS I've won once..can't remember which one but I got 1000 piggypoints (in January) and I've been with PB since December.

Oh for goodness' sake! In the hope it will shut flobber up, (and I think we all know the statistical probability of that), I'll say I have been a Pigsback member since around the end of September 2006, I have done all the quizzes and the crossword every day and I have won nothing. On the other hand, there are plenty of examples, in the pigsback threads, of people winning within weeks of joining.

I agree that perhaps flobber is taking this a bit too seriously, and that some of his/her posts could certainly be construed (spelling?) as rude. If you have a spare 5mins each day, whilst drinking your morning coffee or whatever, then enter the comps- you may just win a tenner. If you don't have the time, then don't enter - simple ain't it?
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

That's what is called luck, but I was interested in probability, not luck.

Flobber, I know you'll argue with this and you seem to be convinced that you are always right, but I too have found several of your posts to be rude and unnecessary. Nobody here owes you any information, (regardless of what you were "expecting"), and I strongly suspect that most people here are not interested in hearing your explanations about statistics, calculus or why they are wrong. Why can you not appreciate that?!

So how should I reply them if I disagree with them?
    EmH wrote: »
This is not about us not understanding, (as you yourself said, anyone can understand basic statistics and probability), but about us seeing this as a bit of fun, not a scientific exercise and not caring. It takes mere minutes each

I can see fun in analysing probability, and not only clicking.

day to enter the quizzes here, so I would agree with other posters that maybe you are taking this all a bit too seriously. I can't understand, if your time is sooooo valuable to you that you worry about spending a few minutes each day entering quizzes,

Then multiply it per number of days in a year...

why you are wasting so much of it arguing about completely unimportant issues on here.

I did not know that answering such simple question requiring only a simple answer whould end like this. It seems that some people here are angry that I by accident revealed how pointless from the point of view of time their participation in the game is. I am sorry if that dissapointed some of you, but this should not be a reason to be such offensive...

You seem to think you have a really strong grasp of logic and, although I am doubtful of this based on some of your arguments, it could indeed be true. It's a shame you don't have such a strong grasp of social interaction. If you did,
you would understand why Kerry told you that you should consider yourself lucky for any replies you get. Regardless of how friendly people are, you cannot expect people to reply to you with information if you are rude to them, reject their answers because they are "wrong" and continually pester them. On that basis you are not only lucky but VERY lucky to be getting any replies at all.

Nobody is perfect. Give me an example how would you correct their wrong answers.

Oh, and just an extra note, most of us, if we ask a question, HOPE for an answer that helps us, rather than EXPECT it.

I used expect in meaning hope there. I thought it was obvious.

In my opinion many of your posts in reply to mine were unfriendly simply because you disagreed with me. In my view that is rude. Let's rather talk content-related.

There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.

If probability of winning every month is close to 1 then I would find a time, if not then not. ;) Cannot be any simpler. :p All I needed was your help in assessing that probability, and not a rant about luck (nobody really knows what luck is - i.e. what it depends on).
Big thank you to those of you who helped me. :T

PB have recently run a big recruiting campaign in mags and newspapers to get more piggy members...so the chances of winning will be getting less....;)

all this commotion for maybe winning a £10 voucher or a CD....lol
