"Weeeell, drink-a drink a drink to Lily the pink a pink a pink"!

I used to love that song!

    Hehe:rotfl:

Now that is one question I would have known the answer to.
That song was number one when I was born, a few days after Xmas.

It's odd, I've just checked and can't find them by searching on Pigsback, but can still get to the offer page by a link Pennylane posted a little while back which has it as a valid offer

    http://www.pigsback.com/offers/976970851/default.asp

    Shame they've disappeared off Quidco

i tried to order in the week but you click shop now and get this message " The link you clicked on has expired. It pointed to a Web site that was a member of the Commission Junction network and has since been deactivated or temporarily suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience."
i emailed pigsback and got this response

We are aware of this error, and we have contacted M&S and we are waiting on a
    response.
This offer has not been removed, as soon as we receive a response this will be
    fixed.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused, and if you have any further queries,
please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Thanks for your mail,

    Kind Regards,

I sent an email to PB Support last week telling them you get an error on the M&S page when clicking the PB link (probably due to the M&S website redesign) and PB replied "We have flagged this issue with our Web Team and they will have it fixed as soon as possible." So, I'm guessing that's why the link isn't available this weekend.

I can see fun in analysing probability, and not only clicking.

Good for you, but don't expect everyone else to feel the same way.

It seems that some people here are angry that I by accident revealed how pointless from the point of view of time their participation in the game is. I am sorry if that dissapointed some of you, but this should not be a reason to be such offensive...

*sigh* Nobody here is angry, (except at your rudeness and arrogance), and nobody feels their participation is a waste of time. If they did, they would just stop using Pigsback. In fact, it seems the only person here who is angry and offensive here is you; angry that we didn't all just bow down to you and provide the exact information you wanted in the format you wanted, and offensive in that you're judging people's opinions as "wrong" and telling them to go back to school. Whether or not you put a smilie, it was still rude. But you won't accept this, people who think they are always right and believe that the world revolves around them seldom do.

Nobody is perfect. Give me an example how would you correct their wrong answers.

I wouldn't. Everyone who replied to you was trying to be helpful and giving you information about their view. This may be news to you, but just because someone sees something in a different way to you does not make them "wrong", and there is no need to correct them. You asked for help, some people told you what you wanted, some people didn't and some people disagreed with you. Be thankful that some people answered as you wish and move on.

I used expect in meaning hope there. I thought it was obvious.

And you are surprised that people are misunderstanding you when you are using words with totally different meanings in place of other words and expecting us to know what you mean? Hope and expect mean different things and have different connotations. Perhaps people would understand you if you say what you mean rather than something else entirely? Or are we all supposed to be telepathic now?

In my opinion many of your posts in reply to mine were unfriendly simply because you disagreed with me. In my view that is rude. Let's rather talk content-related.

Jeez, you really are up yourself! You are allowed to tell us we are wrong and to say things like "go back to school" and that's not rude, but it's rude for us to disagree with you? Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound?! If I were you I would be grateful that nobody responded to your "go back to school" insult by telling you to enrol in charm school.

    Now, give over, please.

However, I know from your attitude so far though that you are the sort who always HAS to be right, is never able to back down and always has to have the last word, so I await your next post with amusement. Let's see how many more reasons for us not immediately accepting your obvious incredible superiority :rotfl: you can think of.

It'd be good to have an end to this useless debate. Whether it was intentional or not, it has disrupted what always used to be a good thread. I'd suggest ignoring provocation - whether it was intentional or not

    .

You have overlooked the fact that many people participate in the 'game' for enjoyment. Since when is it pointless to do anything if you do not have a high chance of winning a ten quid Boots voucher by doing it? And to imply that you have angered and dissapointed people with your apparent accidental revelations (which are not revelations at all really, because they are simply your point of view....not fact) is insulting to the members of this board who choose to participate. I somehow dont think anyone here is going to be suddenly saddened to find that the chance of winning 1000 Piggy Points is quite low, due to the vast amount of people who also participate in the 'game'. I think they are possibly intelligent enough to work that out for themselves.
2008 gig list... Nickelback + Staind (OMG...Staind ROCKED!!), Roger Waters, Infadels, Pendulum, The Police, K T Tunstall, Breed 77, Biffy Clyro....oh, and Motorhead :D

If probability of winning every month is close to 1 then I would find a time, if not then not. ;) Cannot be any simpler. :p All I needed was your help in assessing that probability, and not a rant about luck (nobody really knows what luck is - i.e. what it depends on).
Big thank you to those of you who helped me. :T
I don't know if this helps or not, but there's an old joke ...

A physicist, a mathematician and a engineer visited Scotland for the first time. Looking out of the train window they saw a sheep.

"Look" says the engineer "all sheep in Scotland are black".
"No" interrupts the physicist "there is at least one black sheep in Scotland".
"No" says the Mathematician "there is at least one sheep in Scotland that is black on at least one side"

You're asking the question "Is it worth entering Pigsback competitions?" Now, you've clarified that to you, it's not worth doing it if you're not likely to win at least once a month. But given that it is a random selection, and given that random doesn't always look random (a discussion we had at GREAT length in a previous Pigsback thread so please let's not go over it again!), how does it help you to know that X people who happen to read this thread have won Y times?

Because these X people are recruited from a pool of Z size, which is constantly growing. So even if the chances appeared to be good enough for you to waste your precious time on, that gives no indication of the probability of YOUR name coming up because the pool of people entering - perhaps falsely bouyed by your confidence - is increasing!

Reading "How to lie with statistics" might also be a more profitable use of your time. Those who answer your question are a self-selecting group: limited to those who currently read this thread and even more limited by those who can be bothered to post. (No, I'm not sure why I'm doing this either ...)

To get a more reliable answer to your question - and what use is anecdotal evidence? - search this and previous PB threads for 'I won', list the winners names by date, work out what proportion of readers on this thread that is, and that should keep you out of mischief for a while ... :rotfl:

BTW, I was supposed to have a won a Cafe Gusto machine from Nescafe, but I think it was a glitch, because I and several other people won 1000 points that day - or was it 2000? I don't remember - but there was only supposed to be one winner yet several of us were leaping up and down with excitement. Didn't hear whether anyone else's coffee machine ever arrived, mine certainly didn't, but I was quite happy with the points.

So, I and several others benefited from a glitch - what does that tell you about your chances of winning? Do tell ... there again, maybe not ...

You think you've all got problems? Someone used that as my password when they set something up for me, and it's not one I can change myself (and it's OK for him to know my password because he'd be able to hack into anything I do anyway!)
