There's nothing to conceal. The PB threads are absolutely littered with posts saying, "I won!"

You don't have to be rude to other contributors, suggesting they need to go back to school. Goonieman is correct in saying that the draws for winners mean that winning is a random event, in the sense that it is down to luck. There is no frequency of winning.

No. You and Goonieman are wrong about that. There is a whole science about random events. So go back to school was valid. BTW, I put an emoticon to show that I am not going to offend anyone, if you ignore those signs then it is not my fault.

To me, Pigsback is just a bit of fun..... it's an easy way to rake up a few pounds for just 5 or 10 minutes clicking a day. Half the fun is checking my piggy bank each morning as I wait for the kettle to boil. If I've won something - great. If I haven't.. it's no big deal.
I'm not remotely interested in the odds of my winning this, that or the other.
It's supposed to be fun, right?

Of course it is for fun, but there are so many various competitions around, that if someone hasn't got enough time for all of them, then it is reasonable to choose only those where chances of winning seem to be higher than in others. After all it is not much fun to play all the time and never win, isn't it?

It seems that my original question is confusing for many people here. I only asked about frequency of winning and people often reply how happy they are with regular points - everyone is happy with them, but my question was about competitions where winning is not guaranteed.

if you are so bothered about spending time & stats etc...dont bother doing it.

My question was asked exactly to find out whether to bother doing that or not.

I suspect you are right, flubber, abut randomness, but it's more university than school, isn't it? Emoticons should not be used to disguise plain rudeness. They do help to replace facial expression missed in the written word.

In any case, to us ordinary folks, the fact is that whether we win or not in any competition is down to luck. Names are picked presumably by the software at PB, and that is as good as being randomly selected to all intents and purposes.

I'm afraid that the huge majority of people won't be interested in its place in science, philosophy or religion.

As I said... to me, Pigsback is purely a bit of fun. I don't take the odds of winning anything at all seriously. We're not exactly talking about mega-bucks where prizes are concerned !! Maybe Pigsback comps just aren't for you?

Exactly. In real life if I told you 'go back to school' and winked my eye (or something like that) that would mean that I am not offending you, but just kidding. Here we use emoticons to show what are our intentions.

Now, come on. You are making some kind of religion from plain facts. The basics of probability calculus is not rocket science. Everyone can understand that frequency of winning depends of the number of people playing, number of competitions, and frequency of playing. If number of people playing is small then chances of wining are higher. All I wanted to know is what is average frequency of winning per person, i.e. whether on average people here win e.g. once a month or one a year. That would indicate to me whether it is worth to bother doing it or not. What's so difficult to understand about that? Why are you trying to ridicule simple reasoning? Just because you (apparently?) do not understand it does not mean that it should be ridiculed. :(

That's what I am trying to figure out, but some people here were not helpful... :(

They tried to be helpful, but their answers were not accepted.

We cannot give you the info you require, as no-one but PB has the statistics you need to make the calculation.

Since the prizes are worth only £10 and £20, it's hardly worth the effort, and I suppose it could be said that it takes less time to do the clicks than to get the info you need!

By the way, it was you who said, "There is a whole science about random events."
