Cello tape - lots and lots of it! Just wrap it around your hand (sticky side out) and go for it. You will prob get through a whole roll but it was the only sure thing when we had our dear old springer spaniel! Good luck!

  • Hi sparrer,
If all else fails, surely as part of the 'deal',if you were to take it in to be dry cleaned, they would remove all the hairs? You could always ask them to make sure.

Thanks for all the ideas, have tried them as they were posted and am reporting back..

valk_scot the tweezers are a great idea and will work for the most 'woven in' hairs. A garment bag is on my weekend shopping list :)

catznine the sticky tape had much the same effect as a sticky roller, it got the loose hairs off well but the fine ones were, like my cats, just too stubborn ;)

Rachel the rubber glove cracked it! In fact I put the coat on to do the front and sleeves and they were cat-free in next to no time, just the back to do now :T

Hi Marmite thanks for the tip, I'll keep that one in hand should I need it :D

    Thanks again
    Sparrer :)

Thanks PP I did search but the previous post was 2 years ago, I didn't go back far enough. Thanks also as having now read all the posts I know I'm not alone, thought it was just me who went out wearing my 2 cats,1 very long haired dog every day!

Am I allowed to mention brands? Please feel free to delete if not - My DD has a comb thingy called a furminator for her German Spitz and it's marvellous! Never tried it on the cats as it may not be suitable but the rubber gloves worked just fine on my coat. Btw I used household gloves as I don't have any surgeons type and they were okay :)

    Hi,

I'm sorry if there is already a thread for this, I had a look but couldn't spot one.

We have a small dog, who doesn't shed as such, but does lose some hair. It is very fine, nearly white hair, and it is now all over most of my black work cardigans even after they have been through the washer twice over.

The hair seems to come off most clothes in the wash, or if still bad I'll pop them in the tumble drier for a bit as that seems to help with most stuff, but I can't do this with my cardis and am getting to the point of binning them and getting new, but then it will only be a matter of time till I'm in the same position again and isn't very MSE.

I therefore wondered whether anyone could suggest anything I could try first - I vaguely remember an advert for something you put in the washer to catch fluff, but I wasn't sure whether this was just a gimmick?

    Many thanks in advance

I have a golden retriever and he just needs to sneeze to cover everyone and everything in fur!!!
I have one of those cheapy clothes brushes..they probably do them in tescos...pound shop etc, very handy!
They also do like a mini roller brush that has sticky tape on it to pick up the hair..much easier than constantly washing and drying clothes.

Oh they have them on Ebay too..here's one but just type in clothes brush and a load will come up for you :)

Why does my dog chase cars? Even if he caught one he hasn't passed his test!

I've resorted to cheap sellotape wrapped round my fingers before now. It's a total PITA but it works.

I thought this was part of dog ownership!

when my old dog died it took nearly a year to stop finding his hair and I never thought when he was alive I'd treasure finding them soooo much!

my current dog is going to have to learn to use the hoover as he doesn't even have to sneeze to shed! Closing a door that has been open all day can send a ball of hair gently tumbling across the floor.

agree with above anything sticky or a brush, or buy a new cardie and leave it at work.

Thanks for the suggestions, the last time I bought one of those lint rollers it was a bit useless, but that was years ago, I'll try picking one up at the weekend.

Love the small dog to pieces & wouldn't have her any other way but am working with a fairly new set of people & am meant to be trying to put my best side forward.

I really don't want to wear a straight jacket, sorry suit jacket to work, so am sticking to my cardis but I'm not sure the dog hair is helping ;)
