Thanks for the welcome and the info....mm, Amazon Sellers Club Member number 88 - two fat ladies.....I won't forget that number!
After delving around, the thing I was after is at http://www.asellertool.com/home.html However, after a quick scan of the item in the charity shop/boot sale etc it only feeds back prices on the US Amazon site.
It's not cheap.....back to the brain methinks.

  • Hi there, Firstly I love this thread it has helped me out so much with book selling. My supplies are dwindling after a massive clearout of my own stuff and I do check around the charity shops when I'm out and about, I think they think I'm a bit of a sad case as I go in there with my three kids and buy any self help stuff.

Anyway, I want to do more of this selling thing and noticed that alot of you go to auctions, something I've never done before, any tips please.

I am planning on going down the self employed road with this even though I don't think I'll be earning that much

    Thanking you in advance
  • I go to auctions primarily for my ebay stuff (china, small antiques etc....) and occasionally there are books suitable for amazoning. Bear in mind that most of the stuff for sale is from house clearances so the quality is variable, my last haul was from a Far East art professor so I got some cracking books with that one, sometimes it's just the run of the mill household bookshelf type stuff. Sometimes you'll see bankrupt stock from a shop, Soolin got a fair bit of music items from one of these lots.
The main thing is to have a good look through on viewing day, write some ISBNs down, go home, have a good search and then go back on sale day and work out your top price on the box or lot - remembering to add the auction house commision to your figures.

Arrrrgggghhh after deciding to give selling one last push I have had a mess up !!

I swapped a book on RISI recently and deleted it from amazon only to sell it last night:mad: im 100% sure i closed the listing and ive now had to give a refund (which i hate doing)

I feel the fairies are working against me

Don't want to sound like I'm putting you off, but - if you are already buying stuff to sell, you should be registering with your local tax office as self-employed!
It's not to bad a thing really and will help motivate you to keep proper records and actually calculate if you are making a profit and how much!

just had an email via amazon from a buyer saying that they have not recieved their book and wants an immediate refund.. they were quite blunt and rude in the email... it was bought on the 28th april, and posted out on the 30th. i got a c.o.p. what is the proceedure with amazon .refunds..? is it the same as ebay.. take their word for it that they havent recieved the book, then claim off royal mail...?
