selling your stuff on Amazon - part 9 - advice for newbies in the first 2 posts

Hi all,
I'm a fairly sporadic lister on Amazon - I listed a couple of PC Games that we no longer use and they sold for a much better price than I could have got on ebay - so I'm very happy with that. However one buyer bought two games - which I dispatched promptly. They have now emailed me through Amazon to say they have not received them. I sent them First Class post - but not recorded (duh!) but I do have proof of posting - which I almost threw away yesterday.... phew.
How do you recommend I proceed. If my buyer hasn't received the games then I really do not want to keep him waiting - however I'm not really sure he is telling the truth!!
Thanks in advance

Hi FF
If I was you I would ask your buyer to check with their local sorting office first incase they are holding them there for him. Explain that if they are not there you will refund but will need to put a claim in with RM and that you will need him to cooperate with any investigations by RM.
If he gets back to you and says they are not there, and you have given it the 15 days (or whatever RM say) then I would refund him and say that you will be submitting the claim with RM.
I always find it best to assume that the buyer is genuine, less stress for you, you just refund and claim off RM.
Don't forget to leave him buyer feedback - 5/5 thanking him for his patience due to the non delivery of the games.

as you have proof of posting you are covered by amazon's a-z guarantee, so will not lose if the buyer makes a claim through this for non-delivery.
Previous advice on getting buyer to check with local sorting office is essential as the number of times an item hasn't arrived it will usually be down to a postie running out of attempted delivery cards. Usually the order will then be returned to you after 3weeks, though sometimes this is longer.
It may be advisable to check the buyers feedback and see if there is a history of non-delivery, though unfortunately most sellers don't leave feedback for buyers (but moan ever so loud that they don't get feedback from buyers!). You can check their feedback quite easily, but only if you know how, as amazon seem to delight in obscuring things! List them as 'practice' ones and prepare to wait!
the best price I have ever received for a humble M&B was £15, and it was sold to a buyer in the low countries so also gained nicely on the postal credit too!
M&B are great for selling if you get them cheap or free and aren't worried about how long they take to sell. They take up very little room, they cost very little to post, they are often in good condition, there is often fewer than a dozen sellers competing for a sale. Though if it is so old it has no sales rank and there is more than a dozen other sellers it is pointless listing unless yours is in extremely good condition.
I have sold M&B all over the world, hong kong, south africa, america, all over europe, particularly spain. As they are usually light and slim they cost very little to post in comparison with the credit you receive from amazon.
Unfortunately due to the idjuts using price cutting software they usually end up at a penny quickly and some sellers even list at a penny when other copies are much higher, but this is a different moan for another day!Do You Twitter?

.... and fortunately the type of people buying M&B are more likely to skip the 1p copies as they tend to be the more 'cautious' types who believe that there must be a catch - so I always price higher.

FFM - not just the M&B either. After advice gleaned from here I don't list at 1p now. Sold a little book just yesterday for 50p when there were 16 other sellers at 1p and several more lower than my 50p!! They got a good honest description of the book and I am sure that - and my feedback score - helps enormously. I have a couple of historical ones "in the queue" at 1p and thought I'd leave them there as an experiment ... haven't sold one yet! To be honest I dont list them now unless I am going to make over £2 profit on a book.
Am running out of books of my own to list ( only a few boxes left now to go through) and will have to decide whether to carry on a a business venture or just let my stock and sales dwindle. OH keeps buying books though so I get a dribble of new stuff from there.
Hmmmm decision decisions....0 -

i was about to list something for sale on amazon marketplace but there is no "sell yours here" option. there are others for sale new and used from what i presume are pro merchant sellers due to their high feedback scores
how come other people can list them for sale on amazon marketplace but i can't? is it because i am not a pro merchant seller?0 -
Hi pinkgem, this looks like a glitch, I don't think that there is any situation where a title is just for pro-merchants only - I'd log out and in again, if that doesn't work try again later.
cat, can I join your Amazon non-sellers club? I've sold a handful in the last few weeks but that's all, it's very slow at the moment0 -
You're very welcome to join the club AT:D - lets hope it turns around soon! Off to an attic sale tomorrow, tho' perhaps I should sell some before buying more lol.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB MEMBER 0082 :hello:0
