I received an e-mail from Amazon this morning announcing they'd closed my account because someone had placed a fraudulent order for a camera from it using my stored credit card details. Now I'm pleased Amazon discovered the fraud so quickly and cancelled the order, but absolutely fuming that they closed my account and with it went all my Marketplace listings. I am also a little concerned as to whether the fraudsters also have my bank account details etc - I am unable to check how much information was visible to them as my account no longer exists.

Amazon say I must have fallen victim to a phishing scam or keylogger - I am certain it was neither of these and believe the problem must lie with Amazon and their security. I would strongly advise everyone to delete any card details they have stored with Amazon and to keep a backup list of Marketplace listings just in case your account disappears while you're tucked up in bed as mine did !

That's a story to send a shudder down the spine, have you asked for advice on the actual (official :D ) amazon sellers forum? I can only offer sympathy I'm afraid

    Thanks AT,

Just been to my mum's and 'borrowed' her kitchen scales - along with about 10 Mills & Boon that should make about £1 each and then raiding my own dusty shelves.

I want to test the waters with what I've got laying around and make any mistakes early before getting more adventurous, but will let you know how I go.

    Thanks again

  • Unfortunately Mills and Boon aren't very good sellers because they are cheap to buy brand new so you might get disheartened pretty quickly - the good point is that there aren't many listed but if no-one wants to pay £2.76 for one (that's the 1p selling price plus the P&P that the buyer has to pay) than your stuck with them.
List them as 'practice' ones and prepare to wait!

    Hi AT

I agree totally with all of what you said above - all excellent advice as ever.

To put the Mills and Boon into perspective, I currently have approx 120 listed and have not sold more than 10 since my first ever listing of a M&B in May 05. I keep them listed because they were from job lots and are very small so don't take up much space. They can sell for £3 ish if they are 'rare' and someone is working they're way through a particular favourite author. So, definately worth checking before binning.

Also, keep an eye on Ebay Want It Now, they sometimes come up there.

I have 4 M&B listed - only because if you write to them expressing an interest in writing books they send you 4 new ones - or at least they used to!

I hope that you found this page because you have one of your own to list, I'd settle for £600 if it was me :rotfl:
If I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from
