Selling fairy - you move in mysterious ways. Bought a few books last September when I was away for a few days [my poor sis got dragged round charity shops on the last day
].
Have had 2 that didn't go but one sold yesterday and one the day before! Unrelated topics, one was self-help and the other a Law book which I'm particularly pleased about as it went for £19 [and I've checked there are still no newer editions] :j
Thanks SF0 -
Have just been to scouts book sale, and picked up what I hope were some goodies.
If you were the guy there with short dark brown hair and glasses, wearing a dark blue jacket - spotted ya! I'm sure he was an Amazon seller too. Was it anyone on here?0 -
Yay, one of my ladybird books I thought was a dud just sold for £10!
Still haven't resolved my problem with the law book buyer though as she hasn't responded to any of my emails. I've asked Customer services again if they can help.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. well after a good start to march... sales have gone very quiet now......
went to my regular auction preview last night..... wasnt very exciting.....
so put low bids on about 5 boxes of book......and a bid on phone a budwiser frog and carmeleon that sings the culture club song.....( yep dont tell me i know i'm sad)
very plastic ...very tacky....... but hay it will go in the attic.. for a few years if i win it..... and then see what its worth....
does anyone sell those 1p paperback story books ?
are they really worth the hassle..?
i know on ebay.. that's all one of my friends sell......
also peeps that have been selling on amazon for a few years now......is there a certain time in the year.. you have had good sales.... like ..lets say.. june july... as peeps are buying books to take on hols to read..... or is it very quiet at that time ....as eppes are going on hols...
hope that made sense....Work to live= not live to work0 -
Another tip....DO NOT buy books after a bottle of wine!
Had a lovely boozy afternoon/early evening yesterday and decided to stop off to buy some second hand books on the way home. My usual judgement has gone out the window, not a decent one in the whole bunch so I'll try them out as a job lot on ebay after my holiday. Thank heavens I only paid £4 for the lot, so it's not too expensive a mistake, but next time I'll hopefully know better.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've found that CDs and cassette tapes (of all things!) have sold well internationally.
Hi Jo,
I was wondering if its a particular type of cassette that sells ie classical - pop - rock etc?? I found a box of cassettes when I was clearing out the other day and had a look at what some of them are listed for. Don't know if they would sell but they are going for more than the CD version often - bizarre
Thanks Teapot0 -

Hi, I tend to put my 1p books on GreenMet - only have a few 1p listed on amazon, I don't bother if there are loads already or if its a thick book as I'm not pro-merchant so no reduced fees and if its going to cost a lot in postage then likely to make a loss..... Only list them if they're small and thin books and every little helps. Mind you I'm ok for space so not in a huge hurry to get rid.
Only been selling nearly a year but as far as I remember when the question re times of the year came up there was no definitve answer with some months being better for some than others........ as with most things amazon there's no rhyme or reason

hi mishka, yep i'm here, thanks for your interest
the buyer refused delivery 3 days ago but the item is yet to come back to me
i didn't reply to his last email yesterday afternoon, the one where he sent me the forwarded email from amazon who advised/suggested that he refuse delivery, and i have not heard from him since
in the forwarded email from amazon they did also advise him to let me know if he was returning or refusing it, but it was 2 days before he told me that he had refused delivery and he only told me that because i contacted him to tell him that a delivery had been attempted and the item was at his local sorting office (according to royal mail website when i tracked it)
once i receive it back (if i do) i think i should be entitled to keep the full £4.50 p&p that he paid, even though it only cost £2.38 to send it and just refund the item cost because of all the hassle he has caused me and the time i have wasted on the phone to amazon customer services etc
i'm sure i will still receive a stream of threatening emails whether i refund all but £4.50 or all but £2.38 because he thinks he is entitled to the full postage cost back aswell as the item cost even though he changed his mind. i am still completely shocked that he started talking about the small claims court, lawyers and judges over £2.38/£4.50! he obviously just cannot accept that he has made a mistake and has to pay for it himself.
i am still confused as to why he thinks i should bare the costs of the postage because he originally blamed a website fault but then he started referring to the distance selling regulations 7 day cooling off period for if you change your mind. but neither of these reasons should mean i am responsible for refunding the postage costs that i have already had to pay out.
anyway i will update my thread if i receive any emails from him, if i receive the phone back or if anything else happens.0 -

I only sell my own stuff really so the cassettes were just 80s music. From memory, the ones that sold abroad were Wet Wet Wet (!) Transvision Vamp and another similar group. All were bought by US buyers for some reason.0
