Just wondering whether I'm underselling my books a bit - unless they're absolutely pristine I've been classing them as used - acceptable. I know Amazon gives you guidelines on classing them, but I didn't find it terribly helpful. For example, if a copy has light creasing down the spine but is fine inside I would only put acceptable. How cautious is everyone else when describing books? Think I'd rather err on the side of caution and let the buyer get a pleasant surprise than have comeback because they were dissatisfied. But I've only got a couple of books with a good rating!

    What d'yall think:D

That's amazingingly cautious! Considering some hobby sellers actualy sell books as new, and list faults making a mockery of it being new!

it is a subjective grading system and I have graded stuff as good only to recieve feedback and comments expecting it to be pristine. Luckily not very often and I do now err on the side of caution.

    Simply put -

Like New, should really only be used if the book is perfect in every way and unread, indistinguishable from a new copy.

Very Good - very light signs of reading, faint creasing of spine.

Good - bit of a catch all here, as long as the book isn't grubby stained, annotated heavily creased, bent or worn it should fit in the good category

Acceptable - ex-library books (very debatable to list other than as acceptable), books with annotations, stains, heavily tanned, heavily creased spine or cover, or pages. Loose pages permitted if mentioned, anything that should have a dust jacket that doesn't or if DJ is badly damaged.

not an exhaustive list but hope it helps, but it's only a guide and only my opinion based on amazon guidelines.

Ok, just went back to look at my listings and maybe upgrade some of the books to the 'good' category, but it won't let me:confused: . Seems to me the only things you can alter are your written description and the price. Am I missing something? Or can't you change the classification?

    Hi Cat

I think the only way to do this is to close the item, then go to your closed listings and click on relist - you can then change the condition and relist.

    Congrats teedy.

You should be able to get the packing slip by following this route:

'seller account', 'View your recent Marketplace orders', '736-1234567-1234567', ' print delivery label and packing list'.

If this doesn't work, then I'm afraid I don't know
