Thanks guys! I knew I wasn't crazy, but they really made me feel like I was. The first post office I went to, the guy said "I have worked here for 25 years and I've never heard of it" in the second post office they said "I've worked here for 10 years and I've never heard of it"!!
Is that their standard response now? Do they get trained to say that?
Anyway, that is why I buy my postage online, too much hassle!

Kat they probably though you wanted it sent standard 1st class with additional insurance which is not possible. The added insurance thingy for parcels only works if the book is a very heavy one as well as a lighter book can often be cheaper sent special delivery. Also parcels can take up to 5 days to arrive, although my last couple I sent arrived in 2 which was brilliant.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yeah they probably did think that, but they didn't even say that I could do it with standard parcels, they said the only way you can insure a package is through recorded or special, and yes it was a fairly heavy parcel. Oh well, I know what it is now.
Soo - do you have wap/internet on your phone? If so, look up the book on amazon when you are in the charity shop, you can check the used/new prices right there and then and you will know if you have a dud before you pay for it. It doesn't look that conspicuous either, just looks like you are texting someone. I do it alot now and I have bought only good books (except when I am in a hurry).

Sold 3 books this week which is very good by my standards! Shame one of them was one I'd earmarked for reading out in the sunshine later this week!
Edit: Didn't get round to the Post Office in time today so didn't post the most recently ordered book. Just checked emails and the buyer has left a note saying that she didn't place the order and wanted a full refund! For once, procrastination has worked in my favour. Ordinarily, that book would have been well on its way by now and I would have been moaning!0 -
