If I've been out all day I scan through for ones that I like the sound of then go back through them later if I have time, the amount of times I've re-read something because the full details aren't in the title and it turns out to be a bit crap (ie like the ones that sound good but when you read the thread it's one that bombards you with lottery spam calls).

I can't see the problem if there is a green tick to having a red cross, it's hardly likely to offend the non compers.

if you scan thru then re enter why not bookmark the ones you want to enter?
just right click & 'bookmark this link' if I'm really really short of time I do this, then open the links etc when I've more time

I love the idea of a X skip button, it would save me a lot of time but it doesn't sound as if it is likely to happen. Nice idea though!

That's what I do, or I just leave the tabs open for later and Mr Melvis just rolls his eyes and minimises my browser if he goes on the laptop :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

For my two penneth worth; I don't think we need a "skip" button; personally I enter in the date they are posted order and therefore never look back at previous pages.

What would help me though ... is for the "thanks" and "enter" buttons to be together.

I never see these lottery spam comps either, in fact if anything the spammy ones are very well flagged and even banned. My only problem is 1st time posters who !!!! up the description or dates or dupe comps..and that's nothing to criticise as they are trying to help out which is nice of them.
You won't get a skip button. It's not needed.

I'm not asking nor is anyone else, the posters of the comps to do any more work, it may now, with the right team and knowledge be a small tweak, no one on here has any right to say what can or can't happen, only the site owners/website designer/administrator.

It's an idea made by another poster that I happen to have also wanted, no it's not necessary but then nor is a lot of stuff on here! but it is a logical improvement, whether it would happen is another matter but I'm sure the site owners are constantly looking at tweaks and improvements to the site.

There were at least two lottery spam threads that kept getting bumped, with the ensuing discussion about putting them on the spam list which afaik has not happened, unless I've missed an update.

Thanks but unfortunately I don't think that would help - when short of time I just skim the titles for the most interesting handful and do the rest if/when, I'd end up with so many bookmarks with the amount being posted each day that look good it wouldn't be much of a time saving over going back over the pages I don't think, but interesting idea I'd have to find the shortcut for a bookmark on a Mac though?

Thanks for your thoughts guys.Didnt realise people feel so strongly so ill keep my trap shut in future,it was just a thought,and yes i do appreciate people who post comps and when i get the hang of it on here i will try one or two of my own.It was just an idea to save us all time.x

The last time I edited post 7 on the Comping Guide was 23rd May, so it's been on the list at least since then. Perhaps you haven't been to the list in a while so didn't see it was on there?

It was updated when a comper sent me a PM about the discussion that was happening on the threads so I could pop along, have a read & see what needed amending on the Guide.

If I don't get a pm then it's not guaranteed that I'll even see any discussion as sometimes my boyfriend comps with me (& he isn't so in tune with Guide additions), sometimes I'm quite up straight with comping & the discussions happen later - so a PM to alert me is really appreciated. To be honest I'd rather get 10 PMs & sort it out instead of everyone thinking someone else will let me know as that way I don't find out.

If you bookmark or remember to look at The Comping Guide, post number 7, (which is Posting Comps), then scroll down to FAQ 11, you will then see the list.

I've never thought there is anything wrong with suggestions for improvements, which can be discussed & agreed before moving forward. Problems can arise when people think of an idea & just dive right in to try it out regardless of the wholesale confusion it could cause.

If the site team think it is viable then they may just go ahead & do it for Compers - to the best of my knowledge the 'Enter' button doesn't even show up in non Comping forums so it wouldn't affect the whole of the rest of the site

I think the idea is a really good one. It's something that I see raised a few times, via PMs to me or in threads, about how newer compers can keep a check on what they've entered, or how not to keep opening the same comp threads again & again - I can understand the need to only use the 'Enter' button on the ones you have physically entered. Different strokes for different folks

Tools are there to be used if they help someone & ignored if not. If it is something that MSE would add to our little corner of the site then excellent, another tool for compers to use if it works for them

Great suggestion, but for MSE to see it, you would need to post it into the Site Feedback forum then put a link in this Discussion Thread so compers can go show their support/add their comments. The Powers That Be probably won't see it posted here in our little bit of the Forums

Please don't be put off from making suggestions, new ideas are a good thing when approached in the right way (which you have) x
