Don't know if it's been mentioned before but Good To Know sent an email out today saying they are running a competition club - £3 a month and they will automatically enter you into their competitions.
A few places seem to be doing this - pushchair trader offer theirs as VIP membership £10 for the year and they enter you extra times per comp.
Personally I feel like it's getting to the point where it's just one step away from paying to be able to enter competitions.
had the email as well ickle, compings changing so quickly now to what it used to be, imho a lot of funs gone out of it nowplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Are certain people responsible for posting certain things? I've started posting some book giveaways I come across but am a bit worried about stepping on people's toes.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

It's fine to post the majority of sites, thegirlintheattic
As far as I know its just the ITV,daybreak & magazine comps eg TAB that have defined posters. The rest is just a free for all :-)
We do tend to see members often posting the same sites & I sometimes pm these when a new comp is live but it's not a rule.0 -

I like filling in the forms too LadyM
Aren't Good To Know responsible for Pick Me Up and Chat Magazine though too? So after all the talk of stopping answers being posted/online entry could this be their way of getting around that and recouping some losses by extending their competition club to cover the magazines too?You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

A few pages back someone asked if it's worth entering Facebook comps.
I find it very very hard to see why people just won't admit that sooner or later almost everything worth winning will be on FB ..especially around Xmas which is payday for compers. It's easy for them to run them on there, easy for them to generate new contacts/ customers on there, and very easy for us to enter.
The comments about the prizes makes me laugh...sure you can spend time winning a bar of chocolate...but TBH if you spend more than a few seconds doing that kind of thing I'd be surprised.
Personally the lions share of a pretty decent year so far all came from FB, and that's getting on for 8 grands worth.
You can't expect to win if you don't use properly though, it's a social media site, you need friends, you need to share stuff with those people and they will do likewise.
YOu may even need to vote for your friends sometimes, we all have some dream item or perhaps a trip ...and we can win these things on there with a little help. After a while you get to know what people have done for you, what they are like, what they would like...so you alert them and help them get it. That doesn't happen anywhere else.
LAst week some numpties asked on here for FB friends, then when someone I know saw that and sent them a request they refused it because they didn't know her, resulting in here being unable to use certain features because FB thought she was a pest. Be careful, if you don't want FB friends you're on the wrong place IMO but just ignore the requests don't block them from future requests...that produces problems for the people trying to be nice to you. Better still, ask them who they are so you know.
Two things on FB that are very useful are the pages run by compers that inform us all of wins (and do it very well), and the swap/sell pages where unwanted prizes find new homes.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I hide the referrer automatically in FF, so don't really have any knowledge of IE. Sorry.
My DD ( who was in the computer business) tells me that right clicking and opening a new link that way does NOT hide the referral links.
Dragging and dropping is a better way.
Maybe one of the computer experts on here can confirm.0 -

I can confirm that right clicking a link and opening in a new tab or window doesn't hide the referral link in FF
you need to left click on the url and drag and drop or copy and past the link into the tab (toolbar) or Navigation (address toolbar)
not sure about other browsers

[STRIKE]This free software sounds interesting hides the referal links and is supposed to work with almost any browser
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/proxomitron/Using special HTML filters, the Proxomitron can transform web pages on the fly - changing most anything you wish. Speed your browsing by saying goodbye to slow loading cyber spam and other web-gimmickry. Customize pages to suit your tastes. Take control of your web viewing, and don't be slave to some web-master's whims.
It works with most any browser (not just the big two) and, for starters, can do the following keen things...- Stop or limit Pop-up windows
- Control MIDI music and other sounds
- Freeze animated .GIFs - load only the first frame
- Kill most all advertising banners
- Stop Web-Branding and other scripts added by web space providers
- Stop Pop-up alert/confirm boxes
- Remove slow web counters
- Stop web pages and ads from "auto-refreshing"
- Remove Dynamic HTML
- Prevent getting stuck in someone's frames
- Remove frames or tables altogether for that matter
- Kill or change selected Java scripts and applets
- Add your own scripts to pages!
- Remove or replace web page and/or table background images
- Stop Status bar scrollers
- Unhide URLs obscured by status line text
- Convert blinking text to bold
- Remove Layers and Style sheets
- Automatically re-write or redirect URLs
- Create lists of sites to block or allow
- Create similar lists for just about anything else
- And as they say, much, much more...

(don't click on the big green box as this installs the CNET installer click on the direct download link
be warned though at first glance the user interface doesn't appear to be very user friendly
Note: I haven't used this software as yet but I just may give it a try later on today
Update: I have just installed the software and it comes with the following warning for secure htpps web pages** WARNING **
This mode is experimental! I would strongly discourage using active
SSL filtering for important transactions such as on-line banking or purchases.
The connection may not be as secure, and it's better not to risk a filter
potentially creating troubles on such a page. However, since the casual use
of SSL on less important pages is increasing, sometimes you may wish to
filter it anyway. Still, keep in mind that you do so at your own risk.0 -
I have tried the software in the previous post and if you want my advise I would stay well clear as it's not for the faint hear-ted
I was unable to get the software to hide the referral links  and I am pretty well up on computers that is the reason that I have struck the text out of the post to discourage people from trying the software
I will leave the post up just in case anyone would like to try it
Best of Luck
ah well back to drag and drop for me!0
