Please dont misunderstand my post! Im not saying she has CDRM!!! Its just a thought and would be worth checking if her leg is going under her as it is very common in GSDS.

It is a horrible thing and I hope she does not have it, but its worth checking out in a dog of her age and breed.

Also as its a disease of the nerves, it will not show up on xrays.

I would get her checked by a vet.

Cauda Equina is another name for Lumbar Stenosis and this is what was said to me after her MRI - by a reg vet at FR and her symptoms are a mix of hips displasia and Cauda Equina.

I read up on CDRM and it does not look like what is happening to Zara.

I have started her on Ester C yesterday, will see if there is any difference in about a week's time.

Thanks for all the posts :(

Kylr would those collar things be any good for my collie? He's not in pain but it might ease things a bit for him (his hips were checked today after he had to have an operation for an unfortunate incident with a door he chewed a hole in) but if it helps it might be worth it especially as he is kicking on a bit.

They're only about £16 so worth a try if you can spare it :)

It's one of those things, some people report great success, some report no change. Different dogs, different conditions and so on I suppose.

This article on arthritis has lots of fab tips on things that will help other causes of stiffness and soreness in joints too, so worth a read - http://dogaware.com/health/arthritis.html

Thank you, I will. He's not in pain yet but with hips like his they could just go at any time. I'd quite like to keep him pain free though when he does get older.

I'll get one on payday I think :)

GR I do hope you find out what's up with Zara and sort it x

Zara had bioflow collar but I put it on her at the same time as I started giving her Ester C - she was much better but I never knew if it was a collar or Ester C or a combination of both.

So for the moment Ester C for a week and will see if there is any difference.

Amarillo is 18.95 with delivery so not that much cheaper then bioflow collar - wonder what is the difference between the 2, anyone knows?

Just in case someone does not know - Zara has a superb ortho bed which I got for her about 2 years ago.....

And this is my dog's favourite sleeping position - no, not on the bed of course.. sigh...
