MSE News: Half a million could lose disability benefits

I think in all this you are forgetting one thing, for the government each and everyone of us are just a number. Now you can have whatever disabilities(mental or physical) but if the government want half a million off the disability living allowance than they have given those targets below and now its upto that staff to provide those numbers. You can be in wheelchair or you may not be able to open the front door without help but if you come in that half a million they want to remove than that will happen and at the end the govenment would say that they have taken people who the disability benefit as they were fit for work and were abusing the system. If it ever got to the point where i have no money to eat. I would go to the police station and break something to get myself arrested. Atleast i would get a warm cell and food and if everyone who get SANCTIONED by the job center did that than the government would have to change there policy about sanctioning so many people on the work program.0

No one is forgetting this that's why the appeal procedure is in place..It's a shame it wastes so much money getting to that point though, and even after appeals i've read people are put straight up for assessment afterwards..
The system is a wasteful joke, but if they want me to play the game i'll play, don't matter how many times they tell me I'm in the WRAG and can work with support, I can't and that's that..
My condition is degenerative, so it can't get better....I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -
yes but there is nothing stopping people claiming DLA and working full time.0

Perhaps we should have separate GPs as well?
Don't be ridiculous, GPs have a broad knowledge of most conditions, and will give a referral to the right specialist. I simply meant that currently with ATOS medicals you could suffer with bipolar and end up seeing an medical professional who specialises in osteopathy and has no prior knowledge of mental health. This causes a lot of the problems in the assessments and often results in wrong information on reports. It wouldn't be asking to much to have mental health specialists and physical health specialists so people are assessed fairly. have a read of this website nurses and people talking about it, i've only skimmed it but it makes very interesting reading.
Sunnyone, people who suffer both mental and physical health problems, including myself, should be worried if the information on the above web link is true that their mental health problems will be over looked or incorrectly written about because of lack of time and knowledge on the assessors part and they will lose vital points. Currently DLA is pretty good with looking into both physical and mental health conditions and how everything affects you day to day. I wonder if whoever wins the right to do the assessments will be as thorough or it will be another disaster.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.

And then what about oncologists to assess everyone with cancer?
Surely claimants with cancer would come under the special rules, and do not need assessments. At least they do on DLA now, I'd assume it would stay the same with PIP.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.

 your joking right?! that's disgusting as if people with terminal illness don't go through enough already without having to be subjected to a medical for benefits as well.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.
