Your countersignatory must sign the form at section 10 to confirm that:- they have known you for more than two years
Not so easy for someone who has been in the UK for two weeks.........0 -

he/she can't, as he won't have known the applicant 'more than 2 years'.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
I didn't know I couldn't know people who are born outside the UK. Maybe I am from the same country as them.
Still stands that this rule is stupid in the extreme.0 -
What a mess of a country when you have to have an interview and obtain a license just to leave the !!!!! hole, when the rest of the EU can just roll up and walk in.
Agree about the !!!!!! bit but don't forget we can and do just roll up and walk in to their country.

No-one can sgn a passport unless they have know the applicant for 2 years. Also, the signatory must be a UK passport holder - so that could never happen.
The problem nowadays is that to sign a passport you have to put your own passport number on the application form. There are many Drs and dentists and possibly others who simply do not like doing this.
In these days of idenity theft, giving up an important identification indicator to someone who you may only know very casually must be considered to carry risk.
Now - I don't know if anyone can gain anything useful at all from just a passport number. But if you're a healthcare professional, then all sorts of details about you are freely available online.
Professional body registration numbers, date of birth, qualifications, places worked at and probably a whole lot more. Including photographs.Combine this with a passport number, and then you have a serious amount of information.
Personally, I don't mind filling in passport applications for my patients. But the vast majority of them I have known for a very long time, and often I have seen them grow up.
I can understand colleagues in busy high turnover practices refusing to do it though, I probably would too.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

If you came from the same country, then you would not be a UK national and getting a UK passport would not be an option!
Not withot a whole load of other stuff that is a lot more complex than just gettng someone to sign a form for you!How to find a dentist.

My sisters just had exactly the same problem. Her sons teacher wouldnt do it, the doctor said yes, but it would take 3 weeks!
In the end I asked a friend who has his own business, but I dont think he put his VAT number on the form, so I hope it doesnt get refused as we are going away next month.
Does anyone know if you 'have' to put VAT number down?£100 - £10,0000 -
