That is what the service is for. Take forms and photos to (eligible) post office, they check you've filled the forms in properly, check the photo, sign the form and send it off.
they check the forms but still has to be countersigned.

With it being my first pssport I need it countersigned before taking it to the post office, the Check & Send Service is just to make sure the form is filled in properly and the photos are ok etc

A Post office official can counter sign
Who you can ask to be your countersignatory

    • photographer (professional)
    • police officer
    • Post Office official

And from the Post Office's web site
To renew your expired passport, or to apply for a new or replacement passport:

Sorry why won't your doctor sign it?

Most doctors offer this service as private so really should not have a problem. Even if you recently moved practices you can still approach the previous g.p to sign it. They are verifying that the picture you are sending in is actually of you which a family doctor will no doubt know.

as long as they have known the applicant for at least two years.

fyrd, the reason i first mentioned shopkeepers was because i know someone who got their local takeaway owner to countersign, he had to add his vat number on the form

Most Post Office officials won't especially since my local small post office closed last year and I son't know the people at the main one.
My Doctor has signs up saying that he doesn't countersign passports anymore, apparently a lot of doctors won't sign anymore from what I'ver read online

I think we will be working through the list lol.

How about the bank manager at your bank? They may not know you personally but as they verify your ID when you withdraw monies they should do if you really have no one else to sign it.
It does feel like you really a having a bad time getting this thing sorted. Hope it gets done soon so you can enjoy the holiday by this rate the you really will deserve it with all this headache.

In the past have got it signed by a teacher who was a friend. And hubby got his done by the manager at the local Takeway that he used often. Good luck any how

    I've been Money Tipped!
Any chance at all that the local vicar might know you from Adam?
  • Always struck me strange that a doctor who has been in the UK for two weeks, can hardly speak english and has come from a terrorist state can sign a passport.

What a mess of a country when you have to have an interview and obtain a license just to leave the !!!!! hole, when the rest of the EU can just roll up and walk in.

if you think that badly of us then please go abroad and stay away
