Signature update, as I said not great but step in the right direction.
£52,038 so % paid off is 8.65%
Calculations were wrong before 8.3% paid off not 9.17%
Still happy though as its going down and gone down despite expensive events this year.
What do you mean, it's not great? Yes it is!
You haven't been at it that long and I believe the first six months of the debt journey are the hardest. There are so many bad habits to break and so many things to learn and research. Thank you NL & Piq for your support yet again. I'm pleased with my progress so far but wish there was some way I could speed it up. However, I know that I'll get there in the end and my plan is to get my whole life sorted out once and for all, not just my finances.
Not a NSD today but not too bad considering I've had a pretty awful day. I had a hospital appointment today after finally facing up to an embarrassing problem that affects many women and some men. It's taken 6 months for my appointment, (after 16 years of suffering daily with things getting steadily worse), only for me to see the consultant and be told that they won't do anything until I've lost at least 2 stone. He has put me back on his list and said he won't see me for 6 months to give me time to lose the weight. No advice as to how to actually do it and despite my having tried very hard over the last 3 months, I have lost very little weight. I asked if it was possible to be referred to a dietician but he said to ask my GP, problem is though I already have and they didn't do anything. I'm going to have to go back to cry at them and see if that gets a reaction.
I feel so washed out and as though I'm going to cry any second. I've had to confess to OH about my problem and despite making sympathetic noises, he's not really helpful or understanding. He really doesn't understand how having no money to pay for my food, instead of eating what he provides, prevents me from getting anywhere. He makes jokes about old ladies with embarrassing problems and often comments on peoples weight. He really doesn't do understanding to be honest.
However, I have to make a real concerted effort to lose some weight as I cannot live like this much longer.
I bought myself 2 cheap nail polishes today, a t-shirt and £1 bag of sweets for him for our 18th anniversary and wrapping paper for DS wedding presents.
I've just found out the money OH gave DS on Sunday was their wedding gift and not to help them out with drinks as I thought.
To say I'm feeling rather glum and sorry for myself tonight is an understatement but as usual I will snap out of it. I could have gone back to work this afternoon but felt so wiped out I decided to take the day off. If I had my way, I'd have the rest of the year off
Never mind tomorrow is another day and I plan for it to be a NSD. Working from home and no money in bank.Targets

Oh Granny my lovely friend, I'm so sorry to hear you sound so down. You really do deserve better from Grandad & so do your DC.
I'm not sure if they still do, but Slimming World used to work with the NHS whereby you could be referred by your Dr for a 12 week stint (for free). Perhaps you could look into it? Also, on the subject of slimming world they have a 7 day eating plan online designed for students so all the meals are cheap. It's lots of basic things like jacket potatoes & beans but it produces good results.
I really hope you get your medical problem sorted. Big hugs XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

This is a mammoth post and so please feel free to skip it.
As you can all tell from my last post I was feeling pretty miserable and sorry for myself last night. I think this was mainly down to disappointment as my GP had told me she would refer me as an urgent case as the situation is pretty dire and is affecting my every day life.
The hospital, however, did not seem to care about that, in fact they didn't even ask. The only questions he asked was how many children do you have, which wasn't even the right question, as it should have been how many pregnancies. I have 2 live children should have 7 if all had gone through to produce babies. I also had to talk about my twins, which always makes me sad afterwards, especially as his reaction was fairly cold. The nurse was lovely and glowered at him as though he had 2 heads.
After asking if my monthlies were regular and receiving my response about my cancer op, he turned over 1 page in his notes and then wrote the dates etc onto his page. Clearly, despite keeping me waiting for an appointment for 6 months and then keeping me waiting in reception for 2 hours, he hadn't even bothered to read my notes. He didn't seem to care at all, focusing just on my weight, which whilst over what is healthy for my range is not the primary concern of me or my GP.
I recalculated my BMI this morning as something he had said didn't ring true and they had in fact miscalculated, meaning for safe surgery I actually only need to lose 5lbs, anything more being a bonus.
I've tried ringing the hospital this morning but they have told me my name has gone back to the bottom of the list and I will be called again in about 6 months. It's so annoying, it took so much courage to admit to my GP what was happening plus to tell my OH, I need it sorted asap now I've set my mind to it. However, I'm going to make a concerted effort to get as healthy as possible in those 6 months so that I have a better recovery.
Thank you so much for all your kind support.
I have tried the Zoe Harcombe diet, WW and SW and probably every other diet on the planet but for some reason they don't work. I've got the books for most, including this years version's of WW and SW and stuck to them religiously with no effect. My GP put me on Xenical, strong version of Alli that you buy in the chemist but took me off them as they don't work on me. I've kept a food diary and baffled my GP nurse as the weight just isn't coming off. I lose a couple of lbs initially and then it stops completely and short of completely starving myself, no-one seems to know what to do. I asked to be referred to a dietician for tests but my GP surgery didn't have one to refer me to. This is strange as there is a dietician in the hospital I went to yesterday! Anyway, I do need to lose 5 stone+ in total and have been trying very hard for years but the weight creeps up instead of down.
I don't eat a particularly high fat diet, in fact I don't eat much at all. I eat off a tea plate, instead of a dinner plate, I make fresh fruit smoothies with skimmed milk for breakfast, home made no fat soup for lunch and then dinner. If I have the ingredients, I'll make myself a low fat usually vegetarian meal, if not I eat what OH has provided.
Therein I believe lies the problem, he uses oil in everything he cooks, jar sauces, rice, pasta, potatoes and large quantities of meat and cheese. DD was horrified when in the kitchen one day she watched him cook and told him that she didn't want me eating what he was cooking as it was incredibly bad for me.
When I met him I was a size 8, (18 years ago), now I'm a size 22. So I know that I really have to cater for myself, he refuses to eat my meals and its a bit wearing but if that is the only way to know exactly what I'm eating, then that is what I will have to do. As I said sometimes he will buy things like fresh fruit/veg for me if asked, other times not.
I'm going to start putting a list on the fridge each week and then hopefully he will get some, if not all, of what I want for the week, which will help as money is so tight I struggle to pay for my food when there are things in the house I can eat just not particularly healthy. I did tell him all yesterday, so hopefully some of it sank in. DD will also "speak" to him when she comes home.
Yesterday was doubly hard when after speaking to OH, I then rang DM as promised and she was in one of her off moods and seemed to be going out of her way to upset me. DD and DDIL2B were lovely though. DD should be able to help when she comes home too.
I have difficulty with exercise outdoors because of my medical problem but need to put more effort into exercising in the privacy of my own home.
So as you can see I'm in a quandary, I know it sounds like I'm making excuses but after 16 years of trying to control my weight I am at my wits end. I thought long and hard about writing both yesterday's post and today's, however I know it is at times like this when feeling down I shop and therefore by recording my feelings, I get rid of that burning desire.Targets

Hey granny this is going to be a bit blunt but needs to be said:
get your bum back to the quacks and get them to call the hospital and get you back up that list. Tell them the problem with the miscalculation. Tell them it cannot go on for another 6 months.
NOw for some suggestions:
Re weight gain Have you had a thyroid test recently? as in within last 6 months? If not go ask for one.
You can and will beat this.
One trick I have used is to RUN up and down the stairs three times In Succession building up to three times a day. Swing your arms as you go too. Good for getting stress out as I imagine a face of an irritating being on each step and STOMP accordingly.
Do ask at quacks for any and all help for weight and support in general. You not only need this but you will benefit from this.
Have heard good things about the sub 800 calories for 3 days a week thing too. There was a program on BBC about it I think recently. Might be worth a google?
